Yeah, it kind of came as a surprise to me too!

Also surprising is the number of war reenactment groups in Central and Eastern Canada. Out here in Western Canada, I only know of one ... Steele's Scouts; http://steelescouts.ca/.

How triggering. We had to build ANOTHER memorial for those old white men? Where's the memorial for Chief Bigtoe whose land we stole or the black woman that invented the revolutionary "gong and signal chair"?

Default The Irish

In addition to Canadians there were a large number of Irish immigrants in both uniforms.

There were also a large number of Canadians in US uniforms in the Vietnam war and those that were wounded that returned to Canada were treated in our hospitals but when they applied for military benefits from Canada were denied.

You see the odd Johnny Reb and Billy Yank at the cowboy shooting events in the west. The Alberta Frontier Shootist Society has a couple.

Veary classy post.

Thats a nice memorial, but the english inscription doesn't make sense. It looks like some one who didn't speak english tried to interpet something from french to english. The word "who" should not have been put there.

~ 20,000 (this number is disputed) Canadians fought in the Vietnam war in the US military. But the fact that Canada denied them military benefits shouldn't be surprising, as they didn't serve in the Canadian military, and Canada (as a country) wasn't directly involved in that war (Thank Gawd!). I'm surprised they even tried to apply in Canada!

If they wanted military benefits, they should have stayed the country they served and were discharged in - The USofA

there is a civil war cemetary in what used to be known as Lead ville in Quebec. I remember they used to put little american flags on the graves annually.
