Default Are these oyster mushrooms

I found a bunch of these at my sister's place. Are they oyster mushrooms?

Not a true oyster, probably in the same genus as elm oysters. Found some deer hunting last week, and the gills also didn’t go down the stock. Smelled exactly like an oyster though. I believe they’re edible, but would have to consult my books further. Best to just leave them do their thing!

Dad used to pick wild mushrooms 50+ years ago and were always great yet one time the wrong one got into the mix and yikes...The whole family had bad stomachs for days. SO it pays to know, 100% what you're gathering.
I am 99% sure I could pick what was safe yet the 1% deters me...

Well,,,, that's one way to pose the mushrooms for a pic.

Reminds me of "that" kid that would crush wildflowers just 'cause....

Pretty sure the OP is just trying to show underside for best identification. I don’t see what the big deal is.

People are so scared to touch mushrooms because they think that if you touch a bad one, and rub your eye, nose, or scratch your crack, you might get poisoned and die.

I rarely post or put pictures anymore on this forum because of comments like this. If I didn't post the second picture, you would be the same guy to say "If you want help to identify mushrooms we need to see a pic of the underside/gills." You are correct, respect earns respect, but you are down right disrespectful with your comment. You sir need some sex and travel.

I didn't have a knife with me to cut and nicely flip the mushrooms over. I tried to break them off the best I could, but they just broke apart. From the 30+ bunches I found only this one got disturbed.

Thank you to everyone else who had helpful comments. I can only 100% identify 3 types of mushrooms in alberta. So i am always curious about the the other types I find when out exploring in the bush.

I’m just going to leave this here as a reminder to those who have not read the forum rules for a while.

What does a guy need to do exactly to earn the respect of the mushrooms?

Haha, that’s what I was thinking. What an asinine comment.. wondering if WB maybe ate the wrong mushrooms before posting?!

OP, do not even waste your time or energy trying to defend yourself against WBs comment. Absolutely not required! Carry on and keep us posted on how your mushroom hunting is going.

For sure. Thanks. It was a blast taking the kids into the bush and looking for mushrooms. There was an abundance of different kinds.

Default Some mushrooms require respect.

He’s probably used to the magic ones. They must be respected, too much and you go for a bad ride. LOL

I picked a batch of those exact mushrooms earlier this week. growing out of the base of a tree similar to your pic, I thought they were oysters too. Because I wasn't 100% sure, I cooked and ate a couple bites and had no issues. I've since had 2 feeds and all good. I'll post a pic of mine..
