I dont have one, but my buddy owns one and loves it. I think it is the 3000. I have done a little research on them as well and the feedback is quite positive. Apparently they are very quiet. It has a 4.5 gal fuel tank which allows it to run for 12 hours.

I would buy one. Good luck.

Default generators

I have also done research on the company. Very solid in the states with excellent reputation. Very good price on a set rite now,$369 plus gst. I brought a champion winch for the same price a year ago and it paid for itself in the very first trip. For the amount I will use it I dont need a real exspensive one. My last gen set was 15 yrs old a ittle noisy but very reliable. The 3000 is lite enough for hunting camp and large enough to run the house just in case.

Default Champion Genny

Father in law and I both purchased one this summer when we were staying in Montana on holidays. We picked up the 4000-3500 watt models. This is the slightly larger than costco is selling. Ours also has the standard rv plug in so we can use our regular 30 amp plug in.
Only paid 299 U.S. so price was not an issue. We have not had a lot of use but have been out a couple times and so far so good. Runs the ac on the trailer with the micro wave at same time with only a bit of rundown. We like ours so far.
At that price you can't lose.

What do you owners think of the volume /sound of these ?
The Honda 3K is 48 db rated,
and the Yamaha is 52 bd
Asking because C Tire has these on sale this week.

Thanks

Re the sound level, I have a 2000 watt Kipor as well and the champion is slightly louder but nothing like the contracter or coleman types.

I think the difference is in the inverter technology. The out put of the champion generator is a much less stable A.C. sine wave. It may not beable to run sensitive electronic componits such as computers. The invertor takes a generated A.C. sine wave converts it to D.C. to smooth it out than back to A.C. to create a stabler sine wave for electronic equipment. If all you run is a furnace, A.C. , or battery charger your fine.

I have one, it is pretty quiet compared to the bigger coleman generators. It runs a skill saw just fine, great on gas and for the money I think its great.

That's it exactly. I know of a couple of companies that send cameras up pipelines to inspect them and they can't use conventional generators because the power is not "clean" enough. They have to use the invertor stlye.

Regarding the sin wave. If you plug your trailer/rv into the gen without the clean power and then plug your laptop into the trailer you would still get clean power through the RV inverter? Yes? No?

Warrior I think mine still surges. I recharge my laptop using a 250 watt inverter in the pick up.

The inverter in yout tailer only changes A.C. power to D.C. that way when you plug your trailer in to an A.C. source all your D.C. devices will work ie. lights, pumps, etc. When you are operating on a D.C. power source Your A.C. recepticles will not work niether will micro. Your trailers inverter will have no effect on any 120V recepticles.

Default Use a plug-in surge supressor

From the Champion Manual.
Electronic devices, including computers and
many programmable appliances use
components that are designed to operate
within a narrow voltage range and may be
affected by momentary voltage fluctuations.
While there is no way to prevent voltage
fluctuations, you can take steps to protect
sensitive electronic equipment.
1. Install UL1449, CSA-listed, plug-in
surge suppressors on the outlets feeding
your sensitive equipment.
Surge suppressors come in single- or
multi-outlet styles. They’re designed to
protect against virtually all shortduration
voltage fluctuations.

The easiest way to accomplish that would be to use a higher quality UPS. Surge protectors aren't the best solution.

If I understand,
So the Champoin is not the inverter type on generator.
Sounds like Champion is claimimg that even the inverter style still won't smooth out the power supply ?
Or they are not letting on that it will ?

I looked at the one at Costco tonight and on the side of the box it claims to have the smooth sim power. They also have a I think it was $70 so it is down to like $289 I believe.

Did someone say they want to buy my 2000 Kipor?
