Question Question from a friend???

A friend of mine was wondering if he could hunt with me using my gun, if his pal has expired. Would this be like hunting with a youth. any feed back would help.

Yup...as long as he is under your direct supervision....ie arm's length.

Interesting point TJ.
oldman, is he using your gun, or one of your guns ?
meaning do you each have a rifle ?
What if a hunting buddy has a rifle, (not yours) and his PAL/POL has expired.
Does this hunter need supervision ? Or can he not hunt at all ?
Maybe we should be checking our hunting partners cards LOL.
Kinda why I hunt with the same few guys for the past many years.

from the "Firearms Act" in relation to lending a firearm:
"(b) the borrower uses the firearm under the direct and immediate supervision of the person in the same manner in which the person may lawfully use it."

I have never been able to find any Definition of "direct and immediate supervision" In the Firearms act or the Criminal Code of Canada (which has an extencive definitions area)

"in the same manner in which the person may lawfully use it."[/COLOR]

If I am the "person" supervising, refered to above, I am allowed to sit quietly, in a ground blind, with a firearm, by myself. So the person I am directly and immediately supervising should be able to do the same. I should not be at home sleeping at the time but should be "in the neabourhood".

I would guess that an "officer" would have their interpretation and then a Judge would have their interpretation. I will continue to stay within what I feel is the "intent of the law" and not worry about being about 27 " (my arm) from my son, daughter or wife when we are out hunting.
