Default Gardening question - Potassium fertilizer

Hi,

Where can I buy pure potassium fertilizer? I can see it on walmart in the states but can't find any in Canada. I think my garden is experiencing a potassium deficiency and want to fertilize for that. I know that most nitrogen fertilizers contain some amount of potassium, but I am looking for a pure potassium option.

Also looking for some potassium bicarbonate to deal with some powdery mildew on a few plants. Any idea about where one can source that?

Thanks

best bet would be to go to one of the fertilizer dealers in the area and I am sure they would be able to help you.

Seaweed, Kelp, dried as a meal or in liquid form mixed into the soil is a quick release form of potassium. Some of the grocery stores even carry kelp.
Maybe try your pharmacist for the potassium bicarbonate.

Do they sell to consumers or only to farmers and commercial enterprises?

I went in to a farm supply to get a bag (several years ago now), they had a broken bag that I agreed to take. They stuck it in a big plastic bag, shoveled up all the spillage they could and sold it to me for 1/4 of the price. We were both happy with that deal :-)

If they will sell it to a farmer, odds are they will sell it to you.

Go to Hydro-Lite that's just off Gretzky and yellowhead. They're a hydroponics/gardening supply store. Pretty sure I saw some there when I was picking up tomato stuff. The staff are very knowledgeable and I'm sure they'll help you find what you need.
