Default Black Gold sight users- best pin colours

I'm a sending my sight back to Black Gold for a couple of changes. I may have the pin colours changed. I have a 7 pin Vengeance sight and currently have Green pins on 20,40, 60 and 80. Yellow on the other pins. The bottom 3 pins are smaller at .010 in size.

I use to have Red pins but removed them. I think that may have been a mistake but can remember how they looked now. I am considering putting them back in.

What pins size and colour combination works best for you guys and why?

MBG have bright pins...I am the same as you except my 50 yard pin is Red...

Due to human eyes...with all pins Red will be the first to fade in low light..second will be the yellow...and when you cant see the others Green will still be shinning...natural light

The Red 50 pin gives me an instant yardage when looking at multiple pins...

I presently am shooting the .19 ...I like the .19 because in low light it is brighter than .10 ...But smaller than the .29 for more precise spot shooting [aimsmall hit small]

Pending on age us older shooters may have issues seeing the .10 ...some even with the .19 so .29 is their choice

I like your idea of putting a red in there for a reference point. Sometimes I seem to "get lost" on what pin is which when they are green and yellow.

It really does make it easy to instantly use the right pin...I also have the Vengeance on a couple bows...green-yellow-green-RED-green-yellow-green...

I use this set up regarless of brand sight or number of pins...my 50 YD is always RED...

With the Vengeance it may be a lot easier just to simply change the fiber optic than the whole pin...I had a lot of extra MBG fiber to work with ...

Custom Ascent with Rush Housing:
Green 19
Green 19
Green 10

Green is brightest, easy to distinguish pins when only 3.

Default pin color

Green
Green
Red
Green
Yellow

personally I do not like the yellow much myself so I moved it to the bottom as its my least likely shot I would take.

i struggled with the red pins. I have an accent site with .019 green in all 3 and like it. I found the red pin's would starburst really bad but everyones eyes react different.

Thats what the MBG's PhotoChromatic Technology is supposed to prevent...they do have bright pins and the PhotoChromatic Technology tones them down in daylight so they wont starburst...but as you say everyones vision is different...

I have this issue shooting indoors as halogen lights will not tint the cover and find the pins way too bright. I use a piece of tape over the cover to prevent too much light from coming in.

Attachment 108013Thanks for the replies, some good ideas from you guys. I added a Red pin back into my sight at 50 yards. Thought it was a good reference point.

I'm planning on custom ordering a 5 pin MBG Pure Gold 75 next year. So I am going to pay more attention to pin colours and pin size in all lighting conditions.

Thanks again!
