Default powder

Is there any powder availability for bigger cartridges anywhere in western Canada (H1000, 7828, etc) Is anyone able to find any short of trading their guns or trucks for it?

Maybe try putting up a WTB ad in the buy and sell.

As a handloader you need to see these shortages before they happen. Always keep 2-3 years worth of shooting on hand. Otherwise you end up scrambling and scratching around looking for a needle in a haystack. All the signs were there even pre covid. Sorry your not finding what you need...I know of a couple lbs of H4831sc at a local shop. 70$/lbs IIRC.

About the only thing remotely close to h1000 or 7828 I've noticed lately is RL23, IMR7977, there is a some of that around at the moment. other thing to check out may be VV powders, seems a shipment may have hit Cda lately.
These days, you have to be willing to work up loads for what you can find.
