Default Secondary press

I have an RCBS Rock Chucker press and I'm getting tired of removing my bullet seating die every time I need to pull a bullet, or size, or decap some primers. Then mess around getting my seating die back to where I had it.

I've been messing around with powder charges and my range is an hour or so away. So every time I get home I have a few bullets to pull.

What would you guys and gals recommend for a designated bullet seating press? Use the Rock Chucker for everything else and get a smaller press for seating only?

I thought that rcbs press had a larger bushing that you can replace with a hornady lock n load bushing die for like $25. That would make switchover super fast.

Btw, seating is an important step and I would not use a cheap secondary press to do that step

One of the cheap Lee presses will work as a bullet pulling press with no problems.

I believe the die is far more important that the press it is in.
I have shot many sub half inch three shot groups using a lee hand press to seat bullets, but I would not use it to try and pull bullets with!

I'd be ok with a dedicated bullet pulling press. With lots of trial and error I find myself pulling lots of bullets. And I love the RCBS collet puller.

Cabelas has the replacement bushings. 2 for $25.99 but I can't find the initial threaded bushing on their website. I'll try to check the shops in Red Deer tomorrow if I can sneak out of work.

I use an old Lyman Acculine press for depriming and pulling bullets. Works great and was cheap!

I have used a couple off Lee Breeh Lock presses for years as seating presses, as well as for other light duty work. I also have an old Texan turret press that will hold 4 full sets of dies. It works great for being able to leave your dies set up, have room for a puller etc. I much prefer the Hornady puller to the RCBS I used for years.

At 60 bucks a pop they are inexpensive, mount them on a 2x4 or G clamp them to your bench when you need them.

I do like that puller design better than the RCBS puller

I have a Rockchucker and a Co-ax. I still use the Rockchucker for pulling bullets and loading my 218Bee, as the Co-ax universal jaw setup doesn't like the thick rims on the Bee. Co-ax is great on being able to snap dies in and out and leave them setup, better setup than the Hornady adaptors and finding storage space for turrets, not to mention buying Hornady adaptors or extra turrets. The Lee press as suggested would be fine for pulling bullets and decapping. Not sure what I'd really gain in buying a Wilson or 21st Century dedicated seater over the Co-ax along with the dies for it.

Not sure, just grabbed it off the Lee site. They were only 25 bucks when I bought mine so was surprised to see they had gone up that much. Still pretty cheap compared to anything else. Hate to think what the Texan I bought in the late 60s would sell for today.

I'm thinking I might get the Hornady bushing set for my RCBS press. Along with a second pack of bushings.

And another press. Maybe the Lee breach lock press.

I sent links to the boss for my Xmas list so I'll see if Santa gets me everything I need.
