Default First rifle from Prophet River

hi guys, just wanted to give a shout out to Prophet River.

I purchased a henry 30-30 side gate from them and got it yesterday in the mail. It is in good shape. They were very easy to deal with and responded very quickly to my emails which was a nice surprise. Can't wait to buy from then again.

Got out and put 60 round through it this morning.
It was my first time shooting a centre fire rifle. Iron sights are a bit hard to use right now, but a couple hundred rounds through it and I think I will be a lot better.

I don't have anything to compare the rifle to, but the action is smooth, and it is very pretty.

Zach

Thanks to everyone at PR

That's a fine looking rifle, and I will be the first to agree that Clay and his staff at PR are first rate, I've never had better service than they provide. Apparently every time, to every customer. That's a successful business model!

Now, whatever you do, don't put a scope on that, or you may get a reprimand from a certain Cat around here....;-)

I appreciate the concern gentlemen. I would also like to put everyone at ease, this particular rifle will never have a scope attached to it as long as I am breathing.

Fortunately I will now have to purchase a .270 with some decent glass on top to balance out my small collection.

Now I thought for sure you'd say, 'skip the .270 and get a .303'

Hating on the 270 is a personal prejudice of mine, I'm sure there are some nice ones out there - somewhere!

I have seen some 270win rifles that I almost considered buying, but I just could bring myself to do it.

Congrats on a beautiful rifle.

You picked the best gun shop by a country mile, imo.

Cat, tell this feller what sights to put on his new gun so he can shoot more accurately. Those suckers look like they were designed for pie plates at 50 yards

Default pretty rifle!

That's a beauty. Prophet River is where I bought my first new rifle in 30 years and still in my mind the Gold Standard in service and attitude.
Enjoy your rifle!

I've made a number of purchases through Prophet River. They are my first choice every time I'm shopping.

Nice lever you go yourself there. Fine looking rig and congrats.

I too have made a couple purchases from Clay. He and his crew are #1, top notch people..I also went through him to have a gun brought in from the US. Seamless.

Tang sight or a flip up open sight like the original Winchesters and Marbles is what I would put on it .
Or a an older Lyman receiver sight .

You did good on both counts, the gun is very nice and Prophet River where you bought it is first rate, now your hooked bud, more rifles to come

Hahaha almost woke the kids laughing so hard.

I am amazed at the speed of response from Prophet River whether I’m asking about a $2000 item or $50 item.
They once shipped rings at their expense twice (return from me and new set back) because the product seemed possibly faulty. Was not even verified to have something wrong with it. By the end of eating all the shipping costs, they had to be losing money plus time. Very impressive they showed that much concern for getting the transaction to their level of expectation.
I will not forget it and will gladly bring my business there when I can.

They are great to deal with. Emailed them on a Sunday expecting a response the next day. Clay responded with in the hour and had my new scope in my mailbox by Tuesday.

Thumbs up

congrats on the new purchase....practice....practice...practice with the open sights and in no time you will be hitting a 8''plate a hundred yards off hand....you will also be impressed how quickly you can pick up a target close and hit it too...when you and the rifle become one it is a great feeling.....

Honest business, never made my way to actual store, dealt with them online only and always got prompt answers. First place to look for things when i can't find them in town. If i lived any closer i'd go broke, their inventory is exhausting.

Could not agree more, Prophet River is an excellent business, I have bought a few rifles there, and used the importing services that they offer. Clay is great to deal with!

Default Top shelf.

Congratulations on your nice rifle.
Prophet River is renowned for their service, with good reason.
I'd second the flip up tang sight advice, added one to my Win. '94, made a world of difference .
Good luck.
Ken
