Huskie H-5000 price question

A friend has a Huskie H-5000 in 30-06 for sale, but I'm having difficulty finiding any Canadian "for sale" listings in the searches I've done, making it hard to know if the price is right. It's a 1967 model, shot very little, and the condition is about 8/10 (nice wood with a number of slight dings and scratches, no cracks or chips, blueing very good except for one spot on the top of the barrel from a gun rack). What's it worth?

Also, if anyone has knowledge about the quality of these rifles, be it positive or negative, feel free to educate me.

My hunting partner has one in 7mm....excellent shooter. It's his go to rifle now. He bought it for $500 about ten years ago.

Built as an economy model of the HVA 1600 series for sale in North America. If the sights are still there,and from your description I'd say $450-500 or so.

One of the very few euro made rifles that doesn't command big dough as a used item, $450 to $500 if it is minty. FS

$450-$550, lots of these on Tradex.
Nice light rifles, but are prone to cracking in the pistol grip, or the mortise between mag box, and trigger.If it has not already been done, it would be a good idea to glass the recoil lug mortise.

If it's like the other Huskvarnas, check that it doesn't have a crack by the front lug, under the magazine floor plate. 4-500 is a good price for it.

That's very helpful info fellas, thanks a bunch. It sounds like these are good shooters. This one has no cracks in the stock and is in very good condition, but the price he's asking is actually a lot more than the 400-500 dollars that seems to be the consensus here. Unless I find out there's something special about this rifle that could raise it's value I think I'll pass on it. From other research I've done it seems that it has the last of the HVA 1640 actions, which were supposed to be pretty good. I feel a bit badly because someone at "a gun shop" told the seller that they could sell the gun for a thousand dollars quite quickly. He's asking less from me, but as I said, still a bunch more than 400-500. I know it'll bother him to find out that he's asking too much, he figures he's giving me a deal. Anyways, more input will still be gratefully received.

Most collectors of Husqvarna's don't like the huskies since it's not a "true" Husqvarna. The gun shop should be ashamed of themselves for telling your friend that it is worth $1000. If it was an imperial grade or the full stock 456's, then $1000 is not far off.

Why is it not a true HVA?

They were imported by Tradewinds back in the late 60's as modified 1600 series. That's why you won't see the "Husqvarna Vapenfabrik" on the rifle.

I had a h 5000 in 7 mag . had it nickel plated back in the day .
Took a nice ram with it . I think i was shooting 154 out of it and they were going just over 3000 ft per second . very hot load stock stayed togeather.

Guys are right about the prices. Very nice hunting rifles. If you want one, check out Tradex's website.. They have a ton on there all the time, along with lots of other Husqvarna models.
