Default N/R Yukon Moose Hunt 2022

I found out today that I'm one of the lucky ones to draw a N/R moose hunt. I have been there in 2016 and was successful, 58in spread moose, not the biggest but the adventure was amazing. I and my Yukon resident will fly in to a remote lake and this fall, likely end of September and into October, can't wait for the date. I would post pictures of the last hunt but I find it extremely difficult to do that(don't get me going)WB

Have fun. Hope you are successful. I'm hunter hosting a buddy for caribou this year, not as exciting as a fly in though. 58" is plenty big imo.

You need a friend living in the Yukon who can host you and you must be a canadian resident. Its a weighted lottery like our priority system and can only hunt every three years. So you start by having your host apply for the draw and the years you don't get drawn, you will build up your priority like here. Can also do the 999 thing when you're unable to go that year. WB

Everything you need to know to post pictures using PostImage. One minute start to finish once you get the hang of it.

Very excited to see the story. If it was cheaper to live there and if there was more jobs, I'd move there for a few years to take advantage of the hunting opportunities

Yep, Tapatalk is free and you can post pictures (only a certain number at a time). Only problem I find with Tapatalk is that it does freeze up a bit and seems to hammer through my battery… but hey, it’s free!

Im back from the Yukon. I had success, a 40in bull came in to our calls on the 5 day. On the 4th day we had 2 bulls answer but did not come in. The next day that evening, one of the bulls decided it was time to see what was up…lol 7pm that evening the bull came in on a string and presented about a 80 yard shot. In my calling experience, I have noticed that bulls usually take there time coming to the calls, maybe they get caught in a traffic circle but nonetheless, for those of you who have never experienced something like this, all i can say is be patient, call and call and call, listen very carefully and they will come. We had no bears and seen no other moose, however the second bull did eventually come to us, 2 days after I shot my bull. I called him just to see if he would give us a look but he took off after. He came on the same line as the other bull and me thinks he stepped on his bones and spooked off We also had a visit from a couple in a helicopter on day 3, they buzzed our camp 3 times and then landed and came to talk to us. Short story, these were people who owned a nearby lodge and they were also anti-hunting. Visit was very diplomatic but we did inform the Game Warden and charges could be forthcoming for wildlife harassment and hunter harassment. I’ll try posting some pictures now, cheers and good luck to everyone in their quest.

Here you go.

Excellent hunt and photos. Thanks for sharing. I am not much of a “I will fly elsewhere to hunt” kind of guy, but this one of the hunts I would love to do one day. Now to find a friend in Yukon, lol.

P. S. “Visit was very diplomatic” and charges incoming, haha.

That is fantastic! What a great experience.

Some day I'm hoping to be able to do an outfitted trip out there with my kids.

Glad you reported the harrassment. On the upside, maybe it won't be long until they can't afford the fuel for their heli.

Fantastic pics and story, thanks for sharing. Its been several years since I've been up to the Yukon but its still the most beautiful place I've been to. If I won the lottery, its where I would be buying a cabin, as far from civilization as I could get.
Congrats on the moose, enjoy the bounty.
