With my luck, that's be the one day that I forgot to toss a roll of toilet paper in my pack!

Good on him for having the presence of mind to NOT shoot the bear (and orphaned three cubs). So many out there would have and would have sworn that it was the only option.

Cool video. Good thing there was lots of washin' water around. That would leave your knees shakin' for a while.

After seeing the video, I think the guide missed..
I assume warning shots can be the norm when you have the option of a second shot.. There would have been no second shot.

As for the possible "Orphans"
The only orphans I would be worried about would have been the kids of those in the boat.

People first..
Animals second

Whos to say he actually missed with his handgun, watching the video clip you can't tell where his shot went.

Having said that, stuff does happen. You're right, he probably missed. Luckily it worked.

Frankly speaking, I'd put the bears and the people about even as far as
"People first..
Animals second"
goes. Enough of us to go around. Right?

Not trying to start an argument or anything. Just a whacky opinion.

Cool video though. Very impressive animal. Brings back some memories.

Im with you Tree, there would not be enough toilet paper in a roll to clean up that mess. So in Canada where you do not have a hand gun, what would you do Bigbore?

what would I do???

i would yell at JohninAB to get out his Weatherby and throw it at the bear, if the bear doesn't drop dead on the spot from fright, it will for sure turn and run off to the next country.

I don't. Unless I can go get them myself. Not sure what that has to do with anything though.

I understand that every time I step into the bush I might end up part of the food chain. Unlikely but possible. I don't think I deserve anything more than any other animal. I happen to be part of a species that is pretty smart and uses tools well but other than that, I'm (we're) not really all that special. Regardless of what the "good book" says.

humans first, animals second? Nah, just whoever does a better job at the time.

Bigbore, I would never throw my Weatherby, your Remington on the other hand......

Mind you in this case, I would club you with the paddle and throw you overboard.

12 gauge shotgun with 000 would have hit the bear.... done deal....

As for the humans first animals second.... I will always do my best to keep it that way!.....

I am the top of the food chain..... While I am alive...... if you think animals and humans should be even or ahead then what are you doing posting on a hunting website!.... Eating meat means you know animals come second.....

As for the good book..... Even Alberta Outdoorsman Agrees with this stance!....

HAAAAAAAAA!

You don't think the hunting "fraternity" is a monoculture do you?

everyone comes second eventually. Whether it is a bear or the worms eventually you are just dirt waiting to happen.
