Default Do I need to change my arrows AGAIN?

Trading off my Hoyt Nitrum 34, 50-60 lb pull @ 29" with 150gr points on Eastons 340 FMJ. Going to a #40lb recurve charts say I should be using 400 spine with these points and poundage. Since 340s are a stiffer spine, wouldn't that be a better choice ( less flex)?

If you go to the three rivers archery website they have a dynamic spine calculator. You can plug your bow and arrow into and it will let you know how close the spine matches.

Changing your point weight will change your spine.

I would be looking at a 500 spine shaft for a 40# RC and a 29" draw. You will probably find you draw a RC about 28" maybe less if you draw a compound 29".

Pick up some different weight points to find the right tune, 145,175,200,250 gr. , points are cheap.
A 340 spine is way to stiff for that RC , even with a 300 gr point.

I shoot a longbow at 45lb@28" rating. 500 spine is a lot easier to tune at that bow weight. My draw is 29" arrows are 30" in length and with 100gr point and bh they fly true. For a 400 spine 30" arrow i had to use 100 grain insert and 150gr points to get it flying somewhat decent.

At the moment i use GT classic xt arrows, they group well for me.
