I'll be there and have been asked to do a coyote snaring demo. Not sure which day, but I'll be in attendance for the weekend. Also, I'm bringing some coyotes for the speed skinning contest. Hope to see everyone there. Ryan

Default D Valley Rendezvous Highlights

The Drayton Valley Local is working hard to put together one helluva a good show for you folks! Some of the things you would experience if you turn your truck our direction for July 25th and 26th:
1. Trappers from Nova Scotia, Sask and B.C. doing trapping demonstrations alongside the AB boys.
2. Ultimate Trappers Competition with events such as the ever popular speed skinning (We have had many blanket beavers done in 2-3 minutes) PLUS
this year the Chest Wader Race - bring your waders and we will throw a beaver on your back and the race is on through the conveniently situated swamp.
3. Check out the tradeshow, and top up your trapping supplies
4. See presentations on the Wolverine Study, Beaver Trapping and Economic Trapping
5. Check out the Youth competitions, including the snowshoe race, squirrel poles and muskrat skinning. This WAS the crowd favorite last year.
6. Enjoy the great food

The best place to check out what we have to offer is right on the Alberta Trappers website... c'mon down. www.albertatrappers.com/

Looking forward to the event, and meeting some fellow trappers and AO members.

Thumbs up

Local 1070 Grande Prairie is sponsoring the photo contest. Bring you 5 x 7 photo to the event or email it to brian@gpprime.net and we'll print it up ( NO 4"x6" photos - they will not be accepted )

Chuck Ratliff Moose horn carving is the prize for the best photo. Photos must be related to our trapper lifestyle nature or animal shost -scenics-life on the line are all acceptable, but not your Mexican vacation!

See you there.

Default Single Day Tickets???

I was hoping to attend just for the Saturday to see the trade show, and perhaps the competitions.

Are there day passes being sold? I am not able to attend Friday, and am not interested in the dance/banquet on Saturday night.

$230 for the wife and I is the best price I see for the 6 hours we were hoping to attend for?

$5 to get into trade show. Best $5 I have ever spent. Guys are great they are more than willing to talk shop. Demos are great learned a tonne of tricks to make my life easier trapping in the field, skinning, fleshing, and fur handling. I am very impressed. The kids were having speed skinning competition for $200 for the winner. Showed proper skinning of a bear hide including the pad and claws. I learned something from every presenter. I was at the show for 8.5 hours and was never board. I felt i missed some stuff so im going back tomorrow. The adult speed skinning competition is tomorrow at 4pm can't wait to see the best of the best apply their trade. I should have gone years ago. Come down to the show. If you see me I am wearing a black Edmonton ekis hat with green hoodie say hi.

Maybe something for the organizers to consider for next year.

Advertising the price for the event was the only thing that I can think of that the organizers could have done a little better with. I had planned on staying for both days but not the banquet but I was prepared to pay the full price. When I paid my admission I was pleasantly surprised that because I wasn't going to attend the banquet, it cost me significantly less. I'm wondering if even more people would have attended if they knew that the entry cost was just $5 without the meals. I know that if I could have only gone on Saturday the advertised price would have scared me off.

I called the ATA a week before to confirm the price. My mind was made up when they said $5.00 I said I'll be there.
