Recent musical discovery thread.
Was recently invovled in a conversation about about the terrible state of modern music and figured I would start this thread. Theres great music still being made out there, one just has to look pretty hard to find it sometimes, so when you find something good do us all a favor and post a link here. And whenever we've had enough of the commercial white noise that currently passes as music, just check out this thread and see what everyone else has found
Recently saw this and enjoyed it.

I felt that was different enough to avoid redundancy, perhaps I was wrong.

Can’t post a link, but have a listen to Hana Eastmond. Great voice, beautiful person, and a true outdoors person. I’ve been trying to convince her to cut an album, but apparently it’s quite costly. Too bad, I’d buy it.

Thanks, I'll check her out.
And yes Jfs, when I lived near the city CKUA was my station of choice. Unfortunately I am now forced to choose between two Newcap owned stations that play the exact same garbage, with the High Prairy one being about 4 minuets behind ours. So when the commercials come on, you can switch stations and hear the last crappy song they played twice.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but I've always been a fan of punk rock. And to its credit, it hasn't changed alot as far as new music goes. So easy to autotune some crap these days.
A wilhelm scream has put out a new album!! It's really good. Them boys sure can play guitar.

I did hear that album, and it was darn good. Its a shame that more Canadians dont champion this fact, but while Strung Out gets a bunch of credit.... between Belvedere, Mute, Propaghandi, and a handfull of others I would make the claim that ultra fast/ ultra technical punk rock was perfected here in Canada.
BTW, Belvedere also put out a new album, and it is also really good. And the last Lagwagon album, Railer, IMO rivals any of their earlyer work.

Belvedere!! We opened for them here in edmonton. Love them boys. And propagandhi, common. I don't always agree with thier "message" but just fantastic musicians.

I did post this on the music thread but thought it might fit here for those that don't listen to the music thread. I discovered Joshco a year or so ago. Joshco is top of the line guitarist. The grey haired man playing the other guitar is his father. Live in the park.

Heartily agree with all this, I dont think I could stand having a conversation with most of the Propagandhi members. I've never owned an album of theirs and dont plan on it, but one cant deny their tallent.

Thanks for that, great stuff! Speaking of great guitarists, I've been digging this guy for about 6 months. Specifically I like how he intentionally keeps his playing "outside the grid". Staying outside of the harmonic norms, changing tempo and timing signatures to suit however he's feeling the part in real time, really unique tone and a heck of a voice on him... never heard anything quite like it before.

Richard Inman
One artist I recently found and is probably my favourite right now is Richard Inman, he plays pretty regularly here in Lethbridge pubs, but haven’t been able to see him live. He’s got a great voice and has a couple of albums on Apple Music.
