Default 300 prc

Anybody have one, and if so how do you like it? Think they will stick around for a while? Not allot of reviews on it. How do you find brass/ammo availability? Wondering how it will be handloaded with some lighter pills. This chambering is top of my list for my new gun. Aiming towards a ridgeline for the gun.

It’s designed to shoot the heavy hornady bullets
I don’t think you will find much of an advantage over the 300 win with the lighter weight rounds

Im just thinking it should get some pretty good speed out of a lighter bullet as well as load heavy for long range, and still have use of the magazine.

Backcountry Hunting podcast (Joseph von Benedict) just had a decent summary of them as he’s shot one for a while. Ultimately if you’re a long distance shooter the 300 PRC is incredibly accurate due to its design, better than the Win Mag. As mentioned min 180g rounds.

Default I do

I had one built and I shoot it out to 1000m it works very well. I shoot the 212 ELD-X and the 225 ELD-M

I can routinely get hits with it. With my 6.5x47 I often struggle to get hits at that distance.

With a 26" barrel factory ammo is over 2900 fps and i can get similar velocities out of home loads.

I am very recoil sensitive, I have a very good muzzel brake on it and its quite pleasant to shoot actually. Its loud though but the kick isnt to bad.

with the fact that range finders and chronographs are dirt cheap now
Speed isnt as important as it was before
You can use a big heavy bullet like a 200+ grain bullet that will buck the wind a lot better
And if you need to dial more elevation. Thats easy, just add another click
Wind is your biggest enemy now
