Default Savage Barrel Swap

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a Savage barrel swapped out and head spaced. Would prefer Edmonton area. Thanks

Buy the gauges and a wrench and do it yourself. Easier than changing a tire.

As Bergerboy stated it is very simple to do with a headspace gauge and barrel wrench and a bench vice with the proper jaw softeners, lots of YouTube videos on it .
I did my first Savage barrel swap in 1970 IIRC.
However c you are not confident of do not have access to the tools needed, Rod Hendrickson or KS Arms are two Edmonton shops that would do it for you I am sure .

I would definitely do it myself if I had the tools. By the time I order and receive what I need, I could have someone do it for me for the same or less cost. This is a one time swap so don't need to invest in the tools just to have sitting on the bench collecting dust.

Cat's recommended Smith's is spot on as always. You will be happy with either.

I remember saying that one time too, I was just kidding myself... several swaps later I am glad I have the tools.

I recall reading that the Savage barrels are similar to what was used for anti-aircraft guns in WW II. They would get really hot and the crew would then do a quick swap for another barrel and re-engage the incoming planes.

I used Scott to do a heavy barrel swap on my 223. Shoots .330 5 shot groups so I like the job he did.
