Default Remington 740

Asking for a friend, has an old Rem 740 and the mag release is broken, is this something a guy can find parts for? Where would you start? Gunsmith or DIY?

Don’t know much about the rifle all I know is it was handed down, a family deal I guess.

Did he try Remington directly?
Western gun parts out of Edmonton might be worth a try.
