Default How would you like to see this? 7 Bull Moose!

A friend of mine who lives in Central/South Sask keeps telling me that they see a pile of moose in their fields. I was relunctant to believe him, but he sent me pics this morning. These were taken late August and apparently still hanging around the area.

Default moose

yes, moose are no longer the muskeg northern beasts they once were. they have become a prairie dweller as well in recent times. makes sense, not many wolves or grizz on the prairies. no worrys for em. unless the prairies start to have draws for em. life is good for em atm.

My friend is a high school drop out 40 section farmer in south central sask...yeah I bet he even knows what photoshop is. I take a lot of offense to that as$hats.

If you know anything about saskatchewan, moose and elk are found all over the prairies because they are being pushed south of their natural habitat due to poaching by natives, forests getting to dense to live in, search of food and to keep away from predators. Ever wonder why Moose Jaw is in the south or why they called it moose jaw?

did your friend take the photo himself??

because if he did..i have seen those pics before...so your friend has circulated them before...and if he was the one that took them..then ok.

if he did not take them and just forwarded them on to you from an unknown source then there is no way to tell if they are legit or not.....personally i hope they are...however some of the lines and edges in the photos just seem a bit off to my eye (but i am more than likely wrong..)...not casting any dispersion on your buddy.....

I can only assume that he took the photos himself, not sure why he wouldn't have or why he would lie that he did. He's a pretty straight up fellow and I'd be very disappointed to find out that I was douped.

I can't vouch for the authenticity of the photo, but I can tell you all there are ALOT of moose showing up in the central and southern farm lands of saskatchewan. This summer the rcmp "herded" (see chased) two juveniles away from the highway (I believe where there mother was hit) and on to a nearby farmers land.

I have seen personally a herd of a dozen + moose on the prairie a few years ago in a zone they didnt have a hunt for em but now do,there were as many as 6 bulls in the group.
Since a season has been opened up i've never been able to spot that big a herd again tho still see groups of 4 to 6......
Still think its pretty cool seeing them out on the flat land!!!

Ive seen prairie moose too, im not doubting the story behind the pictures but, look at the backs and shoulders of these moose, they are cut out for sure. They are probably Alaska Yukon moose

We've had moose in the southwest of Saskatchewan for 15 years now. Last year there were a few new zones north of the South Saskatchewan river.

This year, the praire moose got blasted, between Saskatoon and the southsask river and alberta border, there were 700 draw tags given out. It is a bit of a shame in my view, it was nice to see moose, and would have been nice to be able to harvest a proper amount every year.

There was a 74.5'' wide moose shot near luseland, I will find the pictures of it and post it.

Oh, and I first saw the first group shot picture a few months ago, it was apparently taken at Estevan. But, I have to agree, it does kind of look like it could be photoshopped.

You must be kidding if you think it's only the natives doing the poaching. Then again you thought this was a real pic
