Default Official NHL Thread!!!!

Well i don't think anyone has started one yet so i went ahead and did it.

Preseason games on the go now so we are not far away from the regular season.

Good Luck to everyone's teams this year and lets hope the Oilers can keep setting records of excellence.

Edmonton 5 - Florida 4

Woo-hoo, We should be allowed to count preseason points......then we may make the PO's this yr.

Heres a link for anybody interested in some SUPER HOCKEY stuff.

http://oilers.nhl.com/

I have been an Oiler faithful for yrs, but I must admit....the last couple yrs have been trying for us fans. If they dont pick it up I may have to cheer for Columbus or something.

Didnt they just win the Joey Moss Cup? Even though they played themselves, they still won, and it should count .... no?

Anyone see the footage of their new dressin room? Pretty spanky man!

Fancy new dressing room eh? Good for them. Whatever it takes to lift their spirits after every period.

With Keenan behind the bench this year and Kipper back in the net, Calgary is gonna be unstopable.

I figure with Keenann shes either a successful season...or dismal at best, no middle of the road. Time will tell.

Yeah, cause Coach K has been so successful the past 10 years. I don't see any glaring, malevolent number 11 to carry him here.

But he won't get fired mid-season. Darryl doesn't like to admit he was wrong, witness the Playfair fiasco. If the Flames don't get through two playoff rounds clean, Iron Mike's toast next off season.

I think he might have learned from his mistakes and won't take any chances once the flames are losing. He will coach the rest of the year and realize his past coaches were working with a sow's ear.

I dont think sutter lead his team to one of the most embarrassing 20 game skids in nhl history with a total of like 4 goals in this span.

So they are a little different.

Default Soilers

trust the SOILERS and their fans to get all excited about playing with themselves (ie The Joey Moss Cup) Both the Eskshmoes and Soilers will miss the playoffs and next yr the SOILERS will be wearing ECHL logos on the pennies er jerseys.

Greaser fans are an odd bunch, Last year they were harping how regular season means nothing, only thing that counts is playoffs......

Now they are all fired up about pre-season ? Make up your minds.

Just wait for the real hockey ladies.... wait, sorry, there won't be any of that in greaserville :P

Pre-season doesn't count for much... but it's still better to win than lose... especially when you have already sent the youngin's home and are fielding your supposed "A" team.

Flames lose their first two regular season games and wait for the screams of anguish LOL After all, they ARE Stanley cup contenders and favourites to win the West.

Anyhow........
Here is a link with all the odds.
Calgary is 20-1
Edmonton is 50-1

Soooooooo
Who is up for another bet??
Say the same terms as last year but we divide it up in 4 time lines?

As for the guys who lived up to there end of last years bet.. GOOD ON YOU!!

Any takers?

Jamie

Well for all of you that didn't notice the "BET" last year (and for those that would like to forget it )
It went this way
Which ever team lost out first in the playoffs (or didn't make it because they sucked REALLY badly ) the supporters of the losers had to put a banner up on there posts cheering for Calgary (oops I meant the better team)

So I was thinking we could stretch this thing out a bit and divide the season into 4 quarters. After each 20 some odd game stretch the team behind would have to put those great banners up extolling the virtues of Calgary.. (oops I meant the better team)

Any takers???

Jamie

Jamie, the way I remember it was not followed properly. Oilers fans were supposed to put up a banner of our choice, they used their own instead. And virually disappered afterwards.
