Jumping on the bandwagon early huh? Does this mean the Oilers are already out of contention?

Wonder what Treliving is going to do with his approx. $11M in cap space, make a play for Tavares, Stastny, or Kovalchuk, buy out Brouwer, trade Bennet. Could be interesting, seeing we've apprently been in "win now" mode for a few years and only made the playoffs once.

I thought they had a chance till their performance yesterday...

I’m an alberta boy and believe it or not, if the oil arnt in it, I stand behind the flames. Tuff year. (Don’t say I have to hate one or the other because I don’t) if Edmonton blew up today I’d have a flames jersey on.

Wow that's bad. So they're the same as every other team in the league, what a zinger.

Want to try again?

Dougie, Ferland gone, Neal, Ryan, Czarnik, Hannafin here. New more experienced coach, still unproven? Better on paper for sure.

Not to be a grammar nazi, but I believe the thread title is missing an 'R'.

I'm going to miss the Ferland from the first half of the season. I'm not going to miss Ferland from the second half though.

Dont forget Lindholm, excited for next season, at least our management addressed main problems and made significant moves, unlike the other Alberta team. I guess they did pick up our great coach, the dumpster fire burns on.

We're still here Big Fella. Unlike your Oilers, we have made some positive changes. Get ready for another year of disappointment and pulling out your hair... you know... if you have any left.

The only way the Oilers would be the best team in Alberta for the foreseeable future.

You can say, think, post, call us whatever you want. Despite any of that though, the fact is, the Flames were better than the Oilers last year and are predicted to be better than them this year. Last year wasn't the anomaly for Edmonton, 2016-2017 was.

Last year wasn't the anomaly for the Flamers, 2016-2017 was. How far did they make it again?

Guess that's your opinion. The Flames have failed to make the playoffs 15 times since they moved to Calgary, which was in 1980. The Oilers have failed to make the playoffs 13 times since 2001. Recent history would suggest making the playoffs is a bit more of an anomaly for one team than the other.

They made it to Round 1, this information is readily available on-line....

If you want to use that analog. Then try this one out.

Shames have been to the Stanley cup finals 3 times in 38 years that’s once every 13 years. And one of those time 1986 was a fluke.

Oilers have been to the finals 6 times in their 39 years once every 7 years.

Shames have 1 cup for their efforts. 33 percent winning average in the Stanley cup finals

Oilers have a 71 percent winning average was n the Stanley cup finals.

Oilers have the best building in the league. Shames are looking for a new home.

The flames as a whole were not better. Do you wonder why the last 20 games for the flames went the way it did? What happened to make the large fail at the end?

The pout machines in the locker room are a year older .... expect the same crash.

That's actually fans being excited for the coming season. I understand if you're not familiar with what this feels like.

I guess that explains why you cheer for the Oil. Their play is similar.

I'm looking forward to the season, Flames have defiantly worked on improvements unlike the Coilers to the North who figure one or two players is all it takes to go all the way. Will be the same thing again this season, it will be Coilers are going to the cup, this is our year then a month into the season, crickets as it will be clear they are facing another dismal season.
I will miss the old Ferland who used to be a guy who opponents had to watch out for, but as soon as he went to fist line they loved having him out there where he would turn over the puck.
Our goaltending freaks me out a bit, I love Smith but I'm not sure he is a 70 game guy anymore and that's what we need.
Either was we will have a better record than the Coils from the North and that's always a great thing.
