Which community do you live in? After 5 times you need to put in some kind of theft deterrent.

Yeah you're right. Why try to make the recovery of your vehicle that much easier for the public's help? Just throw a vague description of it out there.
I'm sure going to keep my eyes peeled and phone a cop any time I see something that looks vaguely close to the description.

I would like to see how you hang the bumper off the trailer hitch. Gotta be a smoky lake special.

Anyways some guys have all the luck. JR ive got a 2009 chev 3 /4 ton you can borrow tell it gets stolen. Its got a vegerville special head ache rack. Instead of horseshoes welded into it its got silver rings ring gaskets for tie downs. It would make any hobemma resident blush with envy.

I have a 2009 3/4 ton as well but it's a Calgary special. Built without signal lights.

OUCH! Sorry to hear about this John. Last time it was stolen a fellow was killed and a big police chase insued. I know how much you love that old low mileage truck of yours. Hopefully it will turn up undamaged, but if not, you will have an excuse to get a 4x4. The price we pay for living in NE Edm. Good luck It's all good in the hood.

If I remember correctly JR can't post pics here on AO. Not many '89 GMC's running around.

Maybe its time to buy a Denver Boot. Or a different truck.

I'll keep an eye out for it.

The first three digits of the plate would help to.

K...help me understand. Why, and it's only on this forum, is everyone so afraid to give their license plate no.? You know...the one that 100,000 people see everyday, and that everyone in your neighbourhood sees and knows where it belongs to???

What is it that you think we can do with the plate #? You can't look up anyone's info. There's no "hack" into a database that will give your SIN and birthdate....what gives?

There's an official "stolen vehicle" sticky thread on a Calgary Car forum, which has quite a success rate, and the first thing you're required to put out there is the license plate no. Along with photos and detailed description about the vehicle and where it was stolen from. As well as a contact phone #, so the owner can be notified immediately if the vehicle is spotted. Example

Doesn't do much good if someone comes back on the forum and says "Yes I saw your vehicle on xyz ave" and then 8 hours later the OP logs back in.

Is it the tinfoil hat theory that seems so prevalent here?

I'm in Edmonton, post a pic and will keep an eye for it. Hate the POS crooks. Those old Gm products were easy to smash the column and go. Hope you get it back un damaged.

This was posted at 7:48 and no follow up re pic, plate number, or location?

Agree with Dave 2.0 re license plate numbers. On facebook you should see some people get excited when a picture of a car and license plate is posted up.

I'm just curious what's so awesome about a 27 year old pickup that it's been stolen FIVE TIMES?! I presume it's customized and not just an old beater?

Ease of theft involved would be my guess. My buddy went through the same thing in Fort St. John, his gmc was one of the easiest vehicles to hot wire he was told. Can be done rather quickly by career scum bag car thieves.

Glad to hear you got her back, hopefully no damage!

Glad to hear you got it back John. I hope it wasn't damaged. I'm going to be in Two Hills tomorrow if you want me to pick it up for you.

Default That's great news.

I've had a couple of low mileage old classics that served the same purpose very faithfully, and I would have been very hurt to have them stolen.
BUT, surely the old guy has had enough such excitement (?). That has to be a record. What does your theft insurance cost? Why don't you provide him with a nice simple theft avoidance system, like a hidden total shut down switch?
