Default More blatant CBC misinformation/scaring

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa...-gun-1.3468167

Man this sort of thing really ****es me off.

So it was wither a 480 or 50 cal handgun with a 'sawed off barrel', since they say 12mm... or it was a sawed off shotgun that was a 12 gauge in which case it wasn't a handgun.

Just plain honest bilingual ( definition of bilingual " illiterate in two languages " ) reporting,,,

And if that isn't bad enough , we are paying the bill for their ignorance ,,,

Sent them an email to fix their “typo”. Fully expect a snooty resply saying it was an honest mistake and not an attempt to inflame readers and generate fear.

Why are you surprised??? The people that write these articles are bubble wrapped citiots who wouldn't know a nerf gun from a anti-tank weapon!

The CBC is a tool of the liberal party of Canada and the rudder that steers left wing journalism in Canada. Their anti-gun agenda is trotted out in every article they put to print that is firearm related in any way and their ultimate goal is to scare the hell out of the non-gun owning public in a concerted effort to assist current and future liberal governments in the eventual disarmament of all legitimate gun owners in Canada.

I have no doubt that by the end of this century private gun ownership in Canada will be illegal and only criminals, the police and the military ( if we still have one) will possess firearms.

Unfortunately the CBC receives about 1.3 billion dollars a year in tax payer money. Come on, thats only a little over 4 million dollars a day to run it.

Smile Try to get out more

Make new friends go for a walk, take up a hobby, spring will be here soon.

Do you really want any news media to become experts on gun crime? What purpose will it serve?

So what does it change the story if he pointed a BB gun at the officer, an AK-47, or a Bazooka?

If reporters are sloppy in one area of their story, then they're probably sloppy in relating the other 'facts' as well.

In ANY news story you read that you have personal knowledge of, you'll probably find that about 1/3 of it is dead wrong, 1/3 is questionable, and 1/3 is true.

Yet when you read a news story that you have no personal knowledge of, you tend to think that the entire story is true. Why is that?

No handgun expert here. Is there any such thing as a 480 or 50 cal or 12mm handgun? Is it certain the story has it wrong?

I was thinking they may have done their own conversion from .45, but 12mm converts to .468".

Looking the .460 S&W up its a .452" projectile and converts to 11.5mm

I would think it was a 12 ga. shotgun sawed off at wrist of the stock with a shortened barrel.

CBC reporters aren't that bright to them every gun is a handgun

Exactly.

It was a sawed off 12 gauge, but calling it a handgun serves the political purpose more.

I agree that CBC reporters are a special class unto themselves, but a sawed off 12 gauge with a 12mm barrel would have most of the cartridge exposed. this type of gun would be spectacular for clearing washroom stalls, but pretty much useless for anything else. most likely an airsoft pistol cut down to intimidate other dealers or frantic users. in any case the terminology used by the reporter is meant to cast firearms as insidious death machine ready to kill babies indiscriminately. the CBC,and all who are in its employ, can go and get stuffed.
