I spoke with him a few times on the phone, about sending him some German clients for bison. He seemed like a nice fellow. That's about all I can say, since the clients never committed. So I have no first hand experience with his operation.

I've never hunted with him, but I did have some lengthy conversations with him back in the mid-eighties at Calgary Fish and Game meetings. He was operating Silvertip back then. Nice guy, seemed very earnest and sincere. I think it speaks a lot about his business that it is still in operation over 20 years later.

I knew him quite well in the 80's when he guided for both bear and trout on the Bow. He was a stand up guy then and I have no reason to think that he has changed although we have lost contact.

He always ran a small but successful guiding operation and from what I heard he delivered a good hunting or fishing experience for his customers.

I hope that this helps

He was the next door neighbor of a friend of mine in Midnapore. He thought very highly of him.

Certainly. He was mentioned to me about a possible guide for spring bear.

Het Eric:
Does Joe, the framer, still live next door to you? If so, give him my regards and tell him I still have the winch he gave me. He'll know who it is.

I have no personal knowledge what-so-ever of this outfitter. What I can tell you is that I visited a web site a couple of times a couple of years ago that gives clients of outfitters a chance to review their trip. I remember this particular outfitter getting an extremley bad rap from many, many different clients. Whether it was the same guy bad mouthing the outfitter under different names over and over again, I don't know, and can't attest to.

Do your homework on your outfitter regardless.... while there are lots of excellent outfitters out there, theres lots of bad apples too.

This is exactly why i am doing this. Thanks for this post. Some might consider it "looking for dirt"...after seeing more than a few guys with bad experiences, i thought it prudent to ask around. thanks

I seem to recall a thread on here a while back about starting a forum on outfitters and guides.. And on the post I stated that all it would turn out to be was a place for guys to come on and vent or bash people and on that post I mite add that most said ohh no not on here !!. "WELL" what have we just seen ??? a prime example and on just one outfitter to boot...

The business of guiding and outfitting as far as I'm concerned is to much of a personal choice thing,, its like asking whats better a Ford or a G.M. its a personal choice.. Now again if there is a definite scam artist out there then lets hear about it other wise this is all it ever is,, " I heard that he heard that" so on and so on... Just a bunch of personal dribble..
