Hey guys . Wondering if anyone has been to pine lake this week? I’m looking to take my little ones out to catch a few pike and was wondering how thick the ice is and if anyone is driving on? Thanks guys .

Some are driving a short ways off the beach. Other than that, no. Scotty's was sold and now has gates across the access. The ice isn't consistent yet with pockets where it flooded.
Worst at the beach is there is frequently some dunces doing doughnuts in the middle of all the fisher folk. Just no fun when someone is burning around the huts

Still areas of flooding partway down the east side. Enough water to have caused the ice to break and drop. Open water in one spot.
But on the plus, over a dozen pike landed.

We measured 17" over 13 FOW off Taunton (?? - North end) and there were several vehicles out there. Caught half dozen small pike, between 2-5lbs - ish, and missed a few more where we didn't set the hook well enough. Was a really fun afternoon with steady action... I really want to explore the lake more and find where the bigger ones are.

Is there public access anywhere? I’d like to take one of my sons out to try ice fishing, and Pine lake is kinda close to home for me. Any perch?

Definitely public access at the far north end (Taunton Road..??) and it's drive-able. It's a great lake to take kids out because there's steady action with little pike. There's so much freshwater shrimp in there that there SHOULD be a very healthy perch population, but I didn't see any the whole time I was out there.

A little off topic but does anyone know if the trailer that gone blown into the lake during the tornado was recovered?

I’m sure that lake still has a few trailers at the bottom.

I helped with hauling boat lifts and trailers out of the water. Had a big crane on shore and I would drag lines out and hook onto it. We found a Green Acres boat trailer a half mile into the East shore.

A bump here...
Trying to take Friday off, and I heard Scotty's is under new ownership? I always bought my bait there and went onto the ice from there but it's been a year or so since I've been out that way.
Only access is now the public launch on the North end?

I emailed them about access and they decided to ignore me. Last trip out, they were closed. Doubt that we will see the same friendly service if they reopen, judging by their lack of response.

Shame...I was really hoping there would be a derby there on Family Day this year. I can't make the one on Gull the day before...

Their website says it will go on this year. We are going out this weekend and will drive by. They put in a nice set of big fancy gates, that were locked when we last were out.

I was there a lot with the boys up until I came back to work two weeks ago. Pike were biting non stop if you had your minnows hooked right. It was all I could do to keep the hooks baited as I was directing the boys to the rods that had fish biting. There were guys all around us not catching anything and it’s got everything to do with your bait.
Just drive on from the north side, straight across and just right of the point. I started in about 18” if water and punched holes deeper until I found the depth they were feeding at. Mid day it was about 7’ and at dusk it was shallow.

Just updating everyone for the weekend. Lots of snow on the lake, with drifts to the bumper of our Blazer. Only one small pike and another bite. But we were out midday so not much else to expect.

been here a few times. you'll expect to catch some 50-60 cm pike. use tip ups and a medium action rod with a tremble hook and a smelt
