Default tweek a finnlite

Was wondering what tinkering I could do ( if any) that would make my new rifle--- sako finlite in 300 win a better shooting and or lighter.

For the price they charge for the Sako they should come with a carbon fibre or at least fiberglass.

Sit down when you look at the price of the Sako Carbonlight.

My Sako's in edges cost considerably less than other comparable brands wearing much lower quality stocks. But I have pretty much quit buying new rifles at retail prices.

I think it shoots real good , may be not good enough for some folk. I was at the range and at 200 yards I can hit a 3 inch done almost every shot. I was shooting 168 accubonds and 200 partitions. What you think?

What is the trigger weight of pull at? Making the trigger lighter helps shooting tremendously, especially off hand.

After shooting a couple of Fnnlights in magnum chamberings, I doubt that I would enjoy shooting 200gr partitions out of one chambered in 300winmag. I definitely wouldn't be trying to make the rifle even lighter.

Agreed, the finnlight should be considered by those looking for a light weight mountain rifle for sheep or goats in a smaller chambering. I would choose something else if I was looking for a magnum. I have one in 25-06 which is a nice light round but I don't think I would want one in a 300.

They call it a Finnlight but it really isn't that light. I've shot one in a 300WSM and it's not that bad. No real difference than shooting any other medium weight rifle in 300 WSM.

If I was looking for a truly light weight rifle for sheep hunting it wouldn't be a Finnlight.

The issue isn't the recoil as much as the muzzle rise. With such a short pencil weight barrel, the fore end almost jumps out of my hand using my normal fore end hold.

I have one and suggest you use it for a season before modifying it. Only thing I have done is adjust the trigger lighter.

Back trigger off all the way ( won't let you go less than 2lbs if I recall correctly ).

Shoot it for a while. Most folks can't shoot better than a Sako. I sure can't.

We have 4 Sakos in the family no modifications needed here.

Good luck.

The rifle is really nice shooting, not much recoil at all,i have a 270 tikka and not much difference. I had a Remington 700 in 300 win and in my opinion that was garbage. Friends shot this rifle and they coment on how nicely balanced it is and recoil is minimal also really accurate considering I have done nothing with it. Which I hope I don't have to.

Lighten the trigger and be happy. That's a beautiful gun. Don't listen to any naysayers, or second guess yourself, as you bought it to hunt with. If you want something low recoil and accurate, buy a CZ 22 to shoot while your skinny barrel cools down Enjoy that Sako.

Doesn't the fluted barrel assist in cooling the barrel faster?

You bet. Instead of taking 20 minutes to cool down a fluted barrel will only take 19 minutes.

Done nothing to my Finnlight 25-06 as well...I really like the newer stocks they now have with the palm swell. Fits me perfectly...
