Default Releasing traps/snares??

Hi trappers
Once upon a time (tho I can't find it)someone posted some good instructional on how to open/ release traps...
Reason I ask is concerns over dog being caught up.

Any advice appreciated. (Already carry wire clippers in my hunt pack... What else?)

Cheers and best of luck to all

To my kit. Thanks
Not sure if I'd be able to do that with a screaming trapped dog, but would try anything

Thanks!

To save a dying pet you would find a way.

Google is your friend. Search conibear traps. As well as footholds or soft catches.

Umm not to start huge angry debate as previous threads go into Halford in Edmonton they have all the traps we use from conibears to foot holds go take a look in the store. They also have setters to take up the spring tension on a beaver 330 trap. They also have cable cutters to cut snare cable in a jiffy. Look at the foot holds every trap but some of the top wolf traps you can release just by stepping on the springs.

Have fun in Halfords I love the smell in that shop.

Suspended user. I would have liked to ask him where he's taking his dog to be concerned with this. He's in St Albert and in this area his dog would have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than getting caught in a 330.

I found it odd his first post was a previous hot topic. But I gave the fellow the benifit of the doubt.

Yes. He seems to have an agenda. At least our answers are here for anyone with a legitimate concern on future searches.

Not looking to cause trouble, but it was something I always wondered when working in the bush with my dogs in the winter. I have done enough forestry work and not had any issues with the dogs out there and if I knew I was on the active part of the line I didn't take them. I did have one time though where they came up to a fresh set but I was able to recall them as soon as I figured it out as did they. I think the risk is low but always something that has had me curious. No doubt this guy was probably causing trouble. Sounds like you guys have provided enough info in the thread. I know for me a phone call to the rfma holder always helped me but I don't think everyone has access to that info, with good reason.

Good way to make contact is leave a note at the cabin. Have had this happen a few times. Person leaves name and number and reason he wants to contact me. Then the RFMA holder can take it from there. Communication is good.
