Default Well That did Not last Long!

I failed! I tried to get down to one gun, but It was stronger than I was. I walked into a local gun shop and saw a brand new Marlin 444. The wood , fit and finish was pretty good and the price was great so the damn thing followed me home.
My intentions to be a one gun man were good but in the end I was just not strong enough.
Now if I can only find components for it.

Monogamist gun ownership is highly overrated.

Congrats. Ive been eyeing a new tripple-four for a few weeks now, playing the justification game. Having 3 45-70 Marlins makes it difficult. But Marlin says the new 444's have Ballard cut rifling.

I keep telling myself, there aren't a lot of rifles I 'need'.

Then I saw a lefty Sako in 338 win mag. I still think I'm gonna have moment of weakness over that one.

Wasn't that you selling a whack of 444 dies and components a while ago??

If we could only have what we need we would all have just one rifle.
Congrats on a great new toy.

Ya that was me selling off all that stuff. Sure kick myself for it. Had this grandiose idea of simplifying my life. Now I got to start all over.

Default same thing happened to me!

I too have a new Model 1985 Marlin in 444 Marlin, and it is a nice big boomer.

As for current accessories, Budget Shooter Supply (www.budgetshooter.ca) stocks .430 bullets in both lead and CamPro copper-coated, at decent prices. Look in the "Pistol Bullets" section.

For reloading, CamPro says their copper coating is thicker than Berry's bullets, and thick enough at .008" to make the bullet shoot like a jacketed bullet, so there's your powder load info.

As for older accessories, well, the Model 1985 is an old design, so there should be stuff around at gun shows.

Me, I'm putting a 3-9 x 40 Nikon scope on 'er, to do some more precision plus longer-range lobbing of shells.
