Default Predator Hunting-keep the fur!

I know that when hunting coyotes your not not required to salvage the fur. I think that even if the law says this, its still a waste. Why not salvage it? I'm sure some one will take it and put it to good use.
Just puttin' this out there, any thoughts?

I agree. Even if you don't want to skin and prepare the fur for sale, there are numerous people that buy whole coyotes. Just a matter of delivery and they will process and make sure the fur goes to market.

The fur trade helped make this country what it is today. The least we can do is give the pelts the benefit of the doubt. There is always someone willing to handle hides for preperation. I mean what else is there to do at night.(unless you want to sit on the couch with your wife and watch some reality t.v show like Big sister or what ever it's called)

Does anyone know somewhere near north edmonton that takes whole yotes? I ended up just leaving them because I called a couple places and they said they didn't do it anymore...

Don't you think if everyone skins their coyotes and send them in to the sale it will flood the market and drive the price down? I personally can't stand handling a dead coyote.

Does anyone know of a buyer/taker for skinned/whole coyotes in the Medicine Hat area. I'd like to try coyote hunting but do not want to waste the fur if I can help it.

It is a waste to leave coyotes laying around. I personally will not shoot them unless I have a buyer. Thanks again drake for allowing me to get back into the field again.

Lots of farmers/ranchers who have lost calves,dogs,chickens....whatever do have a purpose in shooting them!

My buddy took a few to his buyer and had to beg him to take them. If there not hit perfect or real prime specimens, tough to sell. Bellys turn green even in minus temps.
For years Ive wondered just where all the pelts go? I mean you rarely see furs worn with such great synthetics now...Dont take my tone as anti trapping cause I love the thought of doing it...just who is buyin all the fur? chain

If every coyote that was shot was brought in they would be pretty much worthless. The ranches I go to are happy to see me and I figure I'm doing a service for them. Most times mine are unusable anyway and I shoot them any chance I get fall thru spring. I walk into my stands and just keep going, I'm not dragging a coyote five miles for fifteen bucks. I follow the law to a tee and as they are considered a pest, I don't worry about it anymore than I would a gopher.

If people are willing to be buying them.... Why don't they post their info on here stating that...?? Easy money for them as they dont have to go out and harvest them.... Just my thoughts

If it was shot in the head it might be worth something. But the ones I hit with my 270 nosler ballistic tips aren't worth dragging to the truck. Pin hole on the entry but a football on the exit.
Might have to shoot it with something smaller if I find someone up here who takes them.

I think most of our furs are sold to China and Russia.

Thats his AO handle....PM for current pricing! He is without a doubt the highest volume buyer in the Edmonton area....i think he will pick up within a 70km radius if quantities are justifiable (5 notes or more).

Me all me predators will become on the wall rugs or tubes. My first yote was a low shot and now he only has 3 legs. He will become a yote hat to keep me warm while ice fishing, Im still trying to get a few nice yotes that are shot well with little damage and get them ruged and they will look great on my man cave wall

my family farms lots of land in southern ab and a lot of nieghbours will pay me to shoot coyotes, gophers, and skunks as they are such a nuisance. but most of our coyotes are ugly and aint worth driving over hour to drop of for 10$

You and Steve are from the same colony right? Do we get extra $ for dropping them off directly at the colony?
