Default Sellers not knowing conditions ;( update on page 2 with sellers pictures)

A bit ****ed today.
Bought a 1978 Remington BDL in 8mm Magnum.
Seller listed it as mint condition.
Well, it showed up today.
Dings, scratches and marks all over the stock
No bluing on crown, missing bluing on different spots on the barrel(some under the stock)
The trigger is bent, yes bent, not the nice smooth curve but a visable bend to it. safety touching stock.

This in my opinion would be fair to good condition and the visible stuff noted.
Pictures were not great lighting, and hid almost everything.
This was on CGN not on here
He had a good trader rating, but I guess I could have asked for better pictures.

Mint in my opinion should be new, but has been shot.
No notable wear.
Am I wrong here?

You are not wrong, mint should be no visible damage or wear. I would contact the seller with my concerns, before submitting a feedback.

I feel your pain. I ended up in a similar situation once. I find that after multiple transactions that went well I was not a diligent as I should have been.

I think that seller’s should definitely disclose all of the defects, and if not the pictures would show a good representation of what is there. I saw the add you bought from and based on the price of the few items that seller had listed it should have been in mint shape.

I have contacted the seller, and have not left feed back yet.
Seller hasn't responded yet, but he could be at work so we will see how it pans out.
Bought lots of these BDL's and have only ever bought "mint" ones, as I wanted them for the collection(though I shoot and hunt with all of them) I just care for them well.
And I might have bought this one had I known of its condition, I just would not have paid the price I did.

Yep, sounds fair at best. Some people really have no concept of the rating system and what it actually means. Some do and don't care, and will advertise multiple grades above true condition. If you buy and sell lots, sooner or later it happens, and it's always messy, and rarely resolved to anyone's satisfaction. Sorry to hear you got the dirty end of the stick.

My opinion, if he has sold and bought lots this was not an accident. His description is no where close to what you got. Two resolutions, full refund or a negotiated price reduction. To me, if a seller misrepresented the condition by that much then costs of shipping should also be on them. Many of my deals the comments are exactly as described, or better shape than I expected. To me, that is what you should strive for as a seller. I sell my stuff for full value giving consideration to age, wear and condition. The guy that buys it has paid a good price and should fully expect to get an item as good as he was lead to believe it is.

Unfortunately a negative review on CGN doesn't stick around long and the doofus will likely give you one right back in retaliation.

His words:
Basically brand new, trigger has always looked like that. Its a older production gun, I told you that it wasn’t a new production gun.

Well I have my answer I guess. Caulk it up to next time get better pictures

That's unfortunate. I've had it happen to me twice in several hundred dealings here and on CGN (both bad deals were on CGN, one from a buyer that I had previously purchased 2 very nice guns from that I still have!). Neither time were sellers willing to make good on an obvious and deliberately misleading description. Your guy is still sticking to his story so he isn't going to suddenly come clean.

Live and learn, and leave appropriate feedback and maybe save the next guy some grief.

Leave a poor rating. I’m guessing this isn’t the first time he has pulled this. Do you have a picture of the trigger? Now I’m curious.

That's not mint at all.
An older production rifle that's mint was a safe queen all its life in my eyes, this one sounds like fair to "good for its age".

He should have listed the dings and bluing loss.

I see a lot of people calling items mint… they obviously have zero idea of what mint means.

Ya, I just bought one not long ago described as mint. Far from it in reality though. I contacted him and he just said we had a difference of opinion on what mint was.

Minty is my favourite. It’s gun speak for run the other way if you see that description.

Good for you for leaving a negative review. We can only hope it gives caution to other potential buyers.

Like mint chocolate vs a toilet mint. Crappy deal for the buyer.

It would make sense that we all use the NRA grading system to describe firearm condition. "Mint" is not one of their grades...

That's why I hate buying things offline from 2nd hand sellers. Would prefer to see it in person.

Right up there with "only 20 shots down the tube." Coming from the 3rd owner and he means "last weekend"

That is a good idea. this way if they say different from NRA and found to be wrong, net benefit to the buyer in small claims.
