Default Bow river this spring

I would like to plan a trip down to the Bow in April. Question out to our southern experts, given the crazy snow received in Calgary, would it still be okay timing mid to late April?

Peak runoff isn't until June, so you should be good to go in April. The only thing that might cause you issues is a of rain.

Mid to late April *can* be amazing. I cannot remember if it was last year or the year before that we had awesome midge and BWO dry fly fishing during the last week of April and first week of May.

Many of the mature rainbows, however, will have made their annual spawn migration. Personally, it has never really detracted from the quality of the fishery for me personally.

Other than maybe 1 week during the peek of runoff, the Bow is usually fishable for a foot soldier, usually the first week of June. Some of the best fishing I have ever had has been during runoff.

Thanks all, great info and it is appreciated. It has been a long winter this year. I look forwards to working the rust off.
