I think you may be out of luck... i looked into this a couple years back and even though Garmin has map updates every year they are a couple years behind the current state. So from my experience you won't see the ring road or the new parts of Anthony Henday on GPS maps for a couple years.

I could be wrong though, this was a couple years back i asked.

Do a search on Garmins site. What Nuvi Model do you have?

i have a nuvi765 and bought the unlimited updates for $150 when i got it. it seemed cheaper than randomly updating.

the current maps have the henday ringroad and Stony trail in Calgary.

Your 255 nuvi would have came with 1 free map update (assuming it is not the lifetime map update model) that would have had to have been updated within I believe 30 or 60 days from the time the gps was first turned on.

U can buy the lifetime map updates cheapest from gpscity, and sometimes they are available for $100. But as mentioned, are now probably closer to $150.

To be honest, best bet is to buy one of the Costco models like the 1350 or 1450 garmins that include the lifetime updates as u will get a new model with a bigger screen and lifetime updates for the price u will be paying for your 3 year device. U get 4 updates a year free.

Do a search if u don't know how to save the file with your existing favorites and transfer them to a new device.
Good luck.

Thanks ORV, I too have the same nuvi that is currently up to date, accordingly, to Garmin's site, allong with 2 other Garmin's, and most of their mapping software. I donot Live in Calgary so when you say Ring Road and Olson 308, calls it Stony Trail, I am . Dale Atkin (ibycus) out for Calgary has put out a ibycus Topo Canada V 4, DVD for all of Canada 3.4 Gig's +-. Do a search on him for his software. $25.00. Your nuvi has a SD card slot so you can have more mapping than the base maps, and can select witch one you want to use..
