Wow, thanks guys!

I'll put up a photo or two as soon as I can see straight, let alone connect my iPhone or camera to the computer. It was a rough 30 hours of labour and a pretty epic two hours or so of pushing before the head of the department walked in, took over, replaced the previous doctor's warmth and caring with a bit of that good old-school fire and bloody-mindedness, and got the baby out in under an hour.

Then there was some tenseness involving way too many people in scrubs because she wouldn't start breathing at first. She's doing well now, though, as is Mrs. Roadkill, though the dear's pretty wrecked by the whole thing. The missus is 5'4", and gave birth to a 9-pounder with a 37 cm head circumference. The ladies on the board know exactly what that means. Hell, anyone who's ever stood in a delivery room knows, I guess.

Photos to come, promise.

Congrats to Mr and Mrs RK. Happy news for sure.

Damn shame the right to announce such a moment yourselves (should you have chosen) was stolen from ya though......

Hey folks,

Just got in from the day at the hospital again. Everyone's doing great. We bought this ridiculously huge box of Godiva chocolates for the doctors and nurses who helped us out so much during the birth. We know that this kinda stuff's routine for them, but it sure wasn't routine for us.

So, now I'm making sure the place is clean and such for when I bring them both home to-morrow morning. Then, I'm going the hellz to bed.

I think that when I get the girls home is when this whole thing will become real to me. At the hospital, we're in strange surroundings with a strange little human. At home, we'll really feel the difference.

Tree: Nah, I'm good with it. I was so scatterbrained that I wasn't going to announce properly anyway

Oh, here's a crappy iPhone pic:

Three things I'm going to teach her about when she's older:

1) Hunting for the household meat;

2) Shaving her dad with a straight razor, so that when I'm too old to do it myself, there'll be someone to do it for me;

3) How to use a telescope and appreciate the insane beauty of a truly starry night.

And when she is old enough take her on a cross country road trip (with a AO meet and great scheduled) and show her the beauty and the people of her country.
