Default Ammo Shortage???

Went to buy some ammo today and the shelves at china tire were bare and the local gun shop is having trouble getting certain stock.
Anybody else notice this ?

Happens every year around this time... last minute hunting buys.

Same with guns on the shelves. I haven't been to basspro or cabelas in awhile but I would be willing to bet there are a lot of guns being sold and ammo shortages.

I went to Cabelas in north edmonton this past weekend and was surprised how well stocked they were. I last went in early April and the shelves were pretty much bare.

Add to the time of year is the presidential election. 9mm and 223 have been scarce for a while. 38 and 357 are getting there as well. Sure, it still some around but not near as much as normal.

Good to know. Thought it might be the impending chinese invasion (oh wait we're already invaded) or the upcoming civil war south of the 49th.

Well it is true that for the last 4 presidential elections ammo has been scarce going into the generals, most pistol and .223/556, .308/762, 762x39 etc literally disappeared over night in Feb/March due to covid and civil unrest from George Floyd. Prices and demand have skyrocketed, supply has slumped. Having read several articles and a huge issue right now is a lack of primers. The short of it is that we can expect this to happen every 3-4 years. That is the new normal.

Just bought a 410 from Prophet River. They were very low on ammo just some target loads and home defence rounds that look pretty destructive.
Stopped at a couple of Canadian Tire stores on the way back, not much of any ammo there. Stopped at Cabela's and they still had lots of inventory.
One thing I was told was that the ammo factories were shut down for awhile due to Covid and also the US election is again causing some hoarding.

Default Brass

Brass shortage in the USA. Just got notice of a 20% price increase.

Election, C 19, hoarding, panic buying.....

Look on major US online vendors and filter for 9mm and .223/5.56 and you'll get page upon page reading 'out of stock'. I expect that to hit us up here if they start holding more back for the domestic market, as prices will likely be commanding a premium there, but less so here.

Question

I think the shelves have been way more stacked than they were in April during the covid apocalypse ammo rush.

I'm on a couple Conservative leaning forum's south of the boarder, they are all loading up on ammo big time for post election night shenanigans, all care of the MSM.

Not helping that Remington products might be unavailable for some time.

I’ve got boxes of old old shells I was going to take somewhere like a cop shop to get disposed of.

Maybe I’ll keep it a bit longer in case the post-election zombie hordes start crossing the border. :-)

The crappy tire in High River has no more firearms and I don't think it was because they sold them. Shelves looked a little bare, but there was at least some ammo there for now.

Last two years had a rough time finding 357 magnum and 38's at Cabelos, they always seem to have almost none in stock. Sure miss Wholesale sports.

I just grabbed some .357 Mag from Cabela’s this week. It was a new line from Federal intended for lever guns, 170 grain.
