Default Some tying today as well

I normally do not tie dry flies. First time tying a mosquito.

The one on the desk I bought.
Tied a size 10 to get the feel for it.

Moved to size 14

Off to the races

They look good better then my small stuff

My fingers are not very good with small flies so they turn out as far from pretty fish catchers. I do well with the bigger stuff though

Amazing work!

Putting the ice fishing equipment away for the season today cleaning up my corner of the basement and getting the fly fishing gear out and ready. Maybe next weekend I’ll venture out and look for some open water to fish.

Size #10 is just about right for the 'sqitters' where I come from!

Took a pic of this in 2018:

Finally tied up some imitations this morning:

Tried some different body types and wing styles. We'll see which is the winner.

I like how you made the bodies with materials lighter than water. What size are they?

Size 12 long. Pretty close to size of the naturals too.

Thumbs up Flies

Biggest thing to remember is less is more more or less Most new tyers tend to use to much material .... sparse is better and at the end of the day its the trout that will decide if its good enough .... Nice flies !!

The tying fun continues. Went for some variety today:

Did lots of reading about different hatches and the stages of chironmids. Even bought some realistic flies today from a website. It is going to be a fun year.
