Got the outhouse and front porch covered this week. Also got the solar panel and lights up with a charger controller and it works well.

Got a couple of the younger kids out of the house. We caught some frogs, some fish, swam in the river, picked blueberries, painted the cabin, cut some wood and learned how to drive the quad all on their own now. Good time spent!! Thanks to Garret and crew that showed up the cabin got painted in no time flat.

Thanks Sooner. I've been thinking of shutting this thread down for a while now. Seems there is no interest on this forum for much this past year. Just doing it now for some sort of journal but I think there are other ways to be doing that.
I find it kinda nice when people can share their outing but I am thinking that has come to an end in this day and age....

I follow yours and others line journals and they are quite interesting for an old fellow such as I who is no longer able to activity trap. I also believe they are followed by many new trappers that are shy about asking questions and these journals provide many answers for them.

I follow these threads as I don't have the time or means to trap. I guess I trap vicariously through those of you that take the time to post picture and stories of life on the trap line.

I enjoy sharing these with my 7 year old city girl and would love to have her spend a weekend or a day on a trap line. Just to show her another way and away of life that grew this great country.

Nube I sure hope you don't shut down this fantastic thread/journal/blog.

I ventured over here from mostly reading the General and Hunting. Some of the pics in your thread are excellent. I think you are discouraged because you are not getting the attention you might have expected. After all it IS Summer.

My discouragement isn't for the lack of comments on here as much as the lack of posting from others. How many trappers do we have on this site and how often do we see pictures of any sort on our lines? Not many.
It seems like we have the same handful of guys that do post stuff but it would be nice to see some more stuff guys.

I enjoy reading your posts Nube and looking through the pics that you share. The only thing of late that I have caught in a trap is this fella in the garden by the cucumbers.

Got 40+ boxes out now. Will do another 30-50 in the next week. Saw a pile of wolf tracks and will be all over them next week.
Found some Cat tracks as well.
Love my new Marten boxes I made. Quick, easy, free and lightweight.

You can avoid birds entering your boxes by using wire mesh on the back which they can feed on the bait through, plus cover the box entrance with an evergreen branch. The birds won't go thru the branch yet the marten and fisher will not be deterred.

I find longer boxes like these helps as well. I have also used the evergreen branches. I usually have done well and not got more than a couple birds a year.
