Default Elbow and Bow River

Hey guys, just moved to Calgary (downtown). I was just wondering if anyone could point me to a good location to start fishing once the season opens. Also i just got a fly fishing rod and was wondering if its worth trying downtown?

Thanks

Fishing in the Bow is generally better downstream of the sewage treatment plant than it is further upstream (like downtown), but you can still catch fish. Popular places to start on the Bow include the Graves Bridge area, Fish Creek Park, Policeman's Flats, and McKinnon Flats areas. My old neighbor used to do quite well by the Edmonton Trail area, so you can certainly catch fish in your new neighborhood.

If you are fishing downtown be very careful of needles, every season I find one or two along shoreline. I know how this sounds but it is worth keeping in mind. Fish are everywhere, it's just a matter o catching them.
