People that speed bitch about photo radar and speed traps.
People that do drugs bitch about Police catching drug users.
People that think they can pick the laws they want to obey bitch about it when they are caught.

I feel for anyone that has lost a loved one to these things.
The truth is, Society is better off when we no longer have to deal with people breaking laws. Put them in jail for a term that will correct their habits or watch them kill themselves.

It is all sad to see and experience.

Can't wait for this b.s. prohibition of weed to be over with. It has been proven over time to not work, so why would anyone think it will work now.

What's the definition of insanity again? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Some laws need to be challenged, not because a person is a "pothead" but because the law doesn't work, because the law creates a criminal aspect, because people deserve the right to choose.

Ken, I agree with you, it's no longer the police's fault, they try to do their job, it's the fault of the justice system for letting offenders, especially serious ones, back onto the street time after time. Offenders that are selling drugs that are killing our friends and loved ones. Perhaps we need to adopt a system similar to the US such as second offence for pushing drugs 20 years in prision with no chance of parole for 10 years and third offence life in prison. I'm not talking about a guy smoking a joint, but the ones supplying drugs. Maybe it'd help, maybe not, but it would sure send a message....

Brilliant idea that shouldn't put any correctional officers at risk at all

Prohibition a good example, legalization of weed another example of a war that cannot be won. I cannot think of many victories in the war on drugs.

People will use drugs (including booze) regardless if it is legal or not.

We need to prevent abuse of drugs from hurting others (the user uses and accepts the risk). What I mean by that is if you are impaired and injure, or commit a crime while impaired, I feel your rights should be minimal. Stiff penalties, forced rehab etc.

If the government has not won the war by now, I think it is time to give up. Pretty sure this war is one of the longest and costliest wars, with little gains, if any. Put that money into education/prevention/rehabilitation and I think it will be more beneficial to society than this bs war.

Also to the families who have had loved ones die due to ODs, my sympathies. Murder for drug dealers caught with synthetic toxic opioids is an appropriate charge IMO.
One of the best posts in the thread.
