With a barrel that short <18 inches, is it a restricted weapon? If so, then I guess their only value would be to a collector as you couldn't use them on a day to day basis? Curious

The stupid "<18" = restricted class" rule is for semi-autos. Does not apply to lever guns, only the minimum overall length rule.

Yes, you are correct. Even though a large majority of people who have a large loop Wrangler(including gun writers who have written about them) refer to them as trappers, they were labeled as Wrangler from Winchester. I got caught up in that and even though the Wrangler is a Trapper with a large loop lever, I shouldn't have labeled them as such. My mistake, sorry.

Doesn't change anything else I have said on the subject.

And just so we are clear, I am pretty sure I am not looking in the wrong places. I was a member on CGN before the first CGN site ever crashed, that's about six or seven years before you ever joined there. I have been a moderator there for about ten or more years now.

Want to know how I know how hard to find actual Trapper models are to come by and how fast they sell? I am one of the ones watching and deleting the ads as they sell. Rarely do actual Trapper models ever last a day there, most members will never even see the ads before they are gone.

Yes, there are piles of STD 20" barreled 94's like you posted everywhere for sale, but those are NOT the Trapper model we are talking about.

Your first post on the Trapper:

Flat band or regular band or cap. If it is in 38-55 or 32 Special probably slightly less.
So I understand I was WRONG as you put it about the Wrangler and Trapper. So why did you even mention it in your last quoted post? The reason why is that you weren't actually talking about a Trapper at all.

Hey Crazy Davey,Great back and forth, I learned a lot and entertaining too! Sounds to me like you have you're facts straight and you aren't afraid to admit to your one little mistake, unlike some who posted much misinformation and still can't give in. Do you know anyone that could smooth up a 30/30 Trapper. the action is extremely rough and tight.any suggestions would be appreciated.

That looks exactly like mine badbrass.
And ya, I wouldn't take a $1k for it. Nor $2k.

Yes that's the splitting image of mine, in .30-30 also great in the bush, quite a number of Whitetails over the years.

Wish marlin would have made more 1895 STP trappers, that would have been a nice bear gun! Doesn't make any sense why they wouldn't, cash cow, chiappa make the chiappa 1886 45-70 ridge runner but at 2000$+ well thats pretty steep but then again it is a 12" barrel. I know they ain't winchesters so nail me to the cross, I prefer marlins.

You know what it should change? How hard you come down on a guy for posting something wrong. Loved how it came back to bite you by posting the wrong gun. Jeez calm down.

I know this thread is 4 months old, but after reading everyone's posts, I find myself, once again, in need to own one! Anyone know what my best avenue is? Or, do I save myself the time and hassle, and settle on a Marlin 336? A lot easier to find both used and new. Really looking for that perfect '94 to compliment my Model 70 in camp and in the safe!

Cheers,

BDAJ

There was a Trapper in 45 LC at the Claresholm gun show. It's gun show season, so check any of the ones close by. They're getting pretty pricey though. There was one left at the Calgary Shooting Centre a couple of months back for $1100 I think.

Default '94 Trapper 30-30

I bought Chukar Hunters off him at Christmas, I've always wanted one for like ever.
It's in excellent condition too. Shoots jacketed and my cast boolits quite well out to 100 yds.

I owned a Win Legacy lever in 45 LC for a few years, sold it for $675.
Thinking I should have kept it now, ha.

Did you sell it with dies, brass and some loaded rounds?
If so that was me who bought it
