Default registering of a muzzle loader

I'm aware that you don't have to register a flintlock. I was told yesterday that now you don't need to register a percussion cap now, (I have a 50 cal hawken percussion) can anyone confirm this?

That's a new one to me.
Try calling the CFC @ 1-800-731-4000, and get the skinny right from the source.

Like dick said, get it from the source. I'm unaware of this rule, and if its true I would be willing to say it applies to traditional muzzle loaders and replicas previous to a certian date... side locks at the very least. Please post any info you find.

I just checked the RCMP website (www.rcmp.gc.ca/cfp) and found out that the law(s) as they apply to muzzle loaders hasn't changed. Flintlocks are still classed as antiques as are wheellocks and matchlocks do not have to be registered. Percussion caps still have to be registered. I was misinformed and I'll let him know.
