Default Carbon barrel rifle

I’m thinking about buying one of the better carbon fiber rifles after seeing what a Christensen Arms Ridgeline can do. The three most popular seem to be the Fierce CT Edge, the Christensen Arms Summit TI and the Gunwerks ClymR.

Does anyone have experience with any of these they could share with me? They all catty a sub 1/2” moa guarantee so I don’t think I can go wrong either way.

I was looking at the fierce but I don't know what it has that the Christensen doesn't?

I like that it’s Canadian made. I also like the stock design better than the thumb hole stock CA offers, I’ve yet to see their Monte Carlo stock though. I do really like the stock on the Gunwerks rifles though, they feel great. The Fierce is almost too fat in the grip where as the Christensen’s stock they offer in the ridgeline almost feels too narrow, dainty like.

They shoot factory ammo very well. Reloads get the sd and es down to single digits.

Which one has the best action? The CA is a 90 degree throw, the Fierce is a 70 degree, but I assume the Gunwerks is a 90 degree as well.

If you could only have one, which one would it be? I really liked the ClymR stock.

All three are high end and won’t disappoint
Titanium actions are light but not as smooth as a steel one

Yuppers

Did a bit of research last night on the CF barrels.

They might cost a bit more than Stainless steel, but the benefits of better cooling and stability between the shots is a bonus.

Dang,,, the fun part about changing things up,,, little lone choosing a caliber to build off of. Ha

I have zero experience with any of the rifles you are looking at. But the Gunwerks one looks sweet! I think that company puts a lot of thought and small details into their builds. Would love to own one, one day.

I've read Proof maybe the leaders in the carbon barrel technology. Not sure if its true but maybe worth a look.

Omar at Precision Optics carries all three lines you are looking at. He may have some good insight.

Aaaaaaand just like that my ocd kicks in and I bought a new rifle.

I’ve got a box of factory Nosler 210gr ammo and bag of 100 Gunwerks brass for a 300rum that I’ll give someone a smoking deal on.

I also got a bunch of unused Lapua brass and 6.5 bullets that’ll have to go.

Were you not satisfied by your forbes rifle?

That sounds like a perfect longer range hunting rifle. Get some 175 accubond long rangers loaded up and you satisfy every arguement of any ballistic comparison thread ever had on here.

I loved my Nula’s, just want something different. I think I’m going through a carbon fiber phase. Accurate and they look cool as heck too. If you look up that ClymR stock you’ll see it’s pretty sweet, and I got it in .284 cal so it should keep me interested for a while.

The only rifle I won’t sell is the Grimm Reaper, my Winchester featherweight 280rem, that thing is a killer.

Sounds like a very quality pair. Featherweight 280 for bush, gunwerks 7RM for longer harder hits.

Proof research makes a rifle called the summit also. Slow down man...

Either way you’re getting the right barrel from what I researched...pretty sure gunwerks uses proof barrels.

I’ve got the itch too. But itch is for the barrel, not the whole rig.

Traded them

Probably regret it but I always gotta see what’s around the next corner. I’m sure I’ll have fun with the Gunwerks. My leg is still messed up, will be for another year I imagine. I won’t be climbing any mountains any time soon, and I’m guessing most of my hunting will be in a stand or box blind for the next couple years, getting good at long range shooting has taken precedence over light weight still Hunting rigs. I like shooting long range whether it’s with my bow or rifle so it’s more of a duel purpose rifle. I’ve got a pit where I can shoot over 1000yds. I have a lot of .284 projectiles that I’ll be sending down range this winter, I can’t wait for the new year.

For banging steel at a 1000 + yds I would try some Berger 180 match hybrids. They work great and not real sensitive to seating depth.
