Default Tikka T3 Lube?

I have just acquired a Tikka T3. Every lube I have tried on the bolt so far slows the bolt travel down when I tilt the gun Ie. have to tilt the gun more down or up to get the bolt to slide forward or back. I have tried dry moly as well. It is so slick with out lube. Can I go with out any on the bolt and channel? It is only used for hunting. Wiped down with fluid film on a microfiber rag after each outing?

If you can't feel the difference in friction when working the bolt as one would when actually using the rifle I don't see the problem.

There's way too much stock put in this "smooth bolt" thing. You would never notice it in a hunting situation anyway.

get some Hornady One Shot from P&D Enterprises. It may be available at other retailers, but P&D is where I get mine. it is a spray on dry lube with an extremely low friction coefficient and is also one of the top rust preventatives. spray it on thin and wipe down. done.

I only use a silicon gun cloth for my Sako and Tikka T3 rifle bolts. I have never used on oil on the bolt or other lube product. I have found the Sako and Tikka bolt actions to be silky smooth from factory and with proper maintenance.

I have a separate cloth for the bolts and one for the rifles. I give them a good wipe down after being out in the elements (rain / snow) each day when I get home or into camp that night. I will wipe down with a regular cloth to remove moisture then wipe with the silicon cloth. I will wipe the inside of the action and up thru the magazine opening. I do the same after I clean the barrels and the rifles are going into the safe for storage.

Never an issue hunting in any temperature.

Being doing this since 1997 when I bought my first Sako.
