Took a Whitetail Doe last night South of Calgary and she was loaded with ticks. Silly little buggers... creeps me out. No pics though

Our buddy lands at 1:30 this afternoon from Ottawa. Headed down to 163 for some mulie, elk, and maybe even whitetail hunting. I hope to be back online next Saturday posting a story or 2.

Great work guys and keep them coming, this is always the 1st thread I check when opening AO... even before the Oiler's thread.

Shot my first archery moose yesterday. Waited 5 years for the draw, built the stand 2 years ago and it finally happened. Called in the young Bull to a 30 yard broadside shot. The Montana decoy got him to stop right where I needed him. Couldn't have worked out better. The arrow entered the right side and stopped wedged into the stapula on the other side. About 6" of the rear of arrow was showing and that quickly snapped off when he ran. He went less than 50 yards and I had my camera on him in seconds. I'm guessing less than 90 seconds from impact to him laying down. Super happy, can't wait for some tender moose sirloin tonight!

Using a Bear Motive 6, 70lbs, shooting a 537gr arrow @ 288fps topped with a Rage Trypan.

Here's the video. I started recording literally seconds after the shot.

Default First Bow Kill

Was lucky enough to take this young buck. We had almost no expectations heading out to do some early season elk hunting/scouting. Hunting partner went to reach in my pack to grab the elk bugle to try a call and this guy walks out 18yards in front and gives me lots of time for a shot. He was quartering away more than I realized and the hole in the pic is the exit. I think the arrow must have deflected even more but He didn't make it 50yards.

Has been one of, if not the best eating deers I've ever had. Plus will get a euro done with the full velvet.

After buying a bow this year my goal was to harvest something with it, so mission accomplished! I am however a bit bummed to be done white tail hunting this early on.

Nice! A whitetail from the ground with a bow is a real trophy. Congrats

You aren’t done. Not even close. Think about it this way, how much can you learn about deer now that the pressure is off? Scout, hang trail cams, go out with a camera/spotting scope. Build up your “in-season” knowledge as much as possible, because I can almost guarantee the next one will make you work for it. Or go hunt mulies.

Thanks and great point. I'm thinking I"ll try and help a friend with his WT tag also and selfishly hope an elk jumps out for me haha... Hoping to get out for a Mule deer hunt as well.

A buck with a Bowie knife growing out of his head...unreal. That’s cooler than any big score. Congrats thrillbilly.

Thanks for the positive comments everyone!
I shot him in the Edmonton bow zone.. I actually was just about to call it an evening due to the weather turning last night when he snuck in without making a sound.
