Default Newell - condition?

Wondering if anyone has been to Newell recently...Is it still open or is it freezing up?

Sounds like its in transition. Ice in some bays, open water on the main lake. With the temps and wind this week I would not expect the ice to stick around.

Wondering if the boat launches are ice free? Thinking about one last trip on the water.

Saturday or sunday? I was out saturday. Only 4 boats on the lake that I could tell. Cold in the morning but afternoon was great once the breeze went down and lake calmed out. I got a dozen and lost easily the same amount. Lots of short strikers and fish that just wouldn't stay pinned.

I was out Saturday, good day. I spent a fair bit of time looking for fish up shallow which didn't pan out (two soft takes in 8 - 12 feet) once I went deeper things were steady but not spectacular.

Was thinking of trying shallow, glad I didn't. What boat were you in?

Nicely done! Was out on Saturday, I kept marking them suspended over deep structure but just could not get tuned into them. Was still nice to extend the season one more weekend.
