No I snowmobiled in, the perch fishing was very slow but I caught a few walleye also. Perch started biting in the evening. I'm not very familiar with the lake though . I only boated in one year from Jackson and gave it a try in the past. Limited out at spencer though Saturday .

Have you counted the number of "subsistence" nets in the prime walleye areas of the lake on a year round basis? Walleye are the target fish, not whites, pike, or burbot, with a lot of walleye leaving the lake as a result. Having lived in the area for 35 odd years, I personally know most of these fishermen and have heard their stories of how many and how large their catches are. I am surprised that tags were issued. Use them while you can!!!!

I fish la biche extensively probably more then anyone except old Tom from Plamondon. I have only ever seen a net once set up by Currant island around xmas of this year. I am not sure how much the lake is getting netted. Lots of walleye still around. The perch are gone for now something has to be eating them....

They net Big Bay & around the small island across from the boat launch, along the shore of Lakeview, and along the east side, south of Golden Sands, north of Currant Island and in the area where the Owl River empties into the lake. The Russky's look after the La Biche River area, especially at spawn.

I agree. I don't believe that the lake is stocked any more. It was stocked many years before metis were granted the same fishing & hunting rights as indians for the most part, and they are the ones raping the resource. Commercial fishing as it is known is no longer done. Even when commercial fishermen used the lake, they were required to set a long way from where the walleye were known to habit. Bycatch limits of walleye were strictly enforced, shutting down the fishery if & when a small poundage of walleye was caught.

Get your facts straight dude before going online and posting some racist remarks. It's against the law, even for First Nations to net north of golden sands, towards the owl river. Fish and wildlife patrol the area regularly and pull nets without permits or in unauthorized zones such as the NE side of the lake.
