Default Two questions: release and peep sight tube

I use a mechanical release (COBRA Bow hunting products) and it is getting hard to "set" on the string. It makes quite an audible click and is hard to push ahead with my index finger. Can I lubricate it and if so what with? (I am a WD40 man)

Second ? I use a rubber tube from cable to pep-sight to twist the peep into the proper position. Where the tube attaches to the cable, it moves around a fair bit. Sometimes it gets around on the wrong side and binds in the cables when I draw. Other times it is up or down the cable and distracting when I draw.

Can I apply some "glue" or something to keep it in a set place?

Thanks a bunch.

I could never figure out why a sane person would stretch a rubber band and line it up with his eye.
Look at all the rubbers that break. There are a lot of lucky shooters out there that can still see.

You are right it seems strange to have the rubber tube inline with your eye (I wear glasses though).

A helpful fellow PMed to say if I put in a D-loop on my string, I can probably get rid of the rubber as the D-loop will align the peep for me.

I have heard of serious accidents resulting from a faulty rubber.you're WHAT!

Another option is a peep that divides the string into 3 strands. it is always lined up . Sometimes a strand is in the way a bit but you get used to it quickly just like a spec of dirt on the glasses.
Another grief I don't have to deal with now that I shoot traditional bows.

You can try and lubricate the release, but a better option maybe to just buy another release and keep the old one for backup. Scott, trufire etc make excellent releases and the prices have came down over the years. As far as you peep goes you can tie it in with dental floss or go to a proshop and have a peep set that doesn't require tubing to align.

Or you could buy an anchor sight and never have to worry about your peep again.

X2 about the d-loop. I upgraded this year to a G5 titainium meta peep. The d-loop keeps it nice and strait. Oh yea and the comment about the rubber slapping you in the face. IT DOESNT FEEL GOOD.
