Default Closest lake to Edmonton with sandy bottom?

What is the closest lake/pond to Edmonton with a sandy bottom and not too steep a drop off. I have a lab pup that at this point is a little timid around the water. Lots of sloughs around my place, but the bottoms are all loon(you know what), and my fat arse will sink out of sight fast. LOL. Had him down at the river last night in the nice shallow stuff under the Devon bridge and he had a heyday, but now I want a place where I can get this little bundle of joy actually swimming. I'm thinking Wabamun, but any closer suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How about the Sturgeon River? Shallow, not too fast and narrow by my place. PM me for directions if needed.

The river at Terwilligar dog park is shallow now good base lots of dogs to engage with too.

Also Beuna Vista dog park by the zoo near the boat launch of further down below the Hawerlack park foot bridge would be ideal.
