D Henry in Bentley. He has a great rep. I have used him for gunsmithing but most of his work is custom builds for hunters.

Default Gunsmiths

Corlanes Sports-Rocky Mountain Rifles in Dawson Creek gets my vote. Rod, Tim and staff are great. They do my work as I have had 3 rifles from them, with my last one I picked up end of October 2008 - Sako m75 Greywolf 338-06AI. My buddies have gotten some work done by them too and very happy with the outcome.

Only smith I have ever used was Dave Henry in Bentley and I would not hesitate to go back, very good work, very reasonable turnaround time and on budget.

Only picks up the phone on Wednesday's.

Rangesports Unlimited does the majority of the work for the guys up here.
(250) 372 7030 They are in Kamloops.
Corlanes as well as Bits of Pieces in B.C. also does good work.

You should expand on your post as to what you need or want done.
Most gunsmiths today have specialties that they prefer to operate in, much like doctors.
You don't want to have your tonsils removed by a gynocologist.

I think you may get a better read on who may be the best for a specific type of work on a certain type of firearm.
We all have preferences on what we will or won't do. In my case I only work with bolt action rifles. I don't do anything in wood as my wood skills suck, and I refuse to do any fluted barrels.

You might want to add where you are from, and what area you would like to find your gunsmith in.

Then to find someone who specializes in building very accurate long range rifles would be your best bet. You have greatly narrowed the field down then.

I like Tim and Rod, but I wouldn't let them build me an anchor weight anymore. I and about three other fellas have had the same problem. $2600 wasted on a rifle that shoots worse than my old beat to hell 30-30. It went back 3 times, and never was the issue fixed. Oh, well.
Funny thing is I once owned one that shot beautifully from them.

You would do well to call Rick at Alberta Tactical Rifle if you have not already, he is located in Calgary. Although my experiance with him is limited to 2 trigger jobs that he did for me I was impressed by his turn around time, cost and he is a great guy to shoot the breeze with to boot.

Good luck on your search.
