If you have your return address on the outside you should get it back if there is insufficient postage. That should have taken about a week. If no address it may be in dead mail some where and yup that could be a problem. Wait and do another one when the 28 days are up if you don't get acknowledgement. Identify it as a possible duplicate if you send a second one. !6-17 May may be a cut off for a free one. Depends on legislation.

A "free" what? From what I understand this was a NEW application - not free.

I already laughed at the OP in his other thread. Still funny.

My guess: No postage, no return address. Mail again.

Could be worse. This could have happened just before hunting season. You can still probably be practicing all summer if you get a move on.

You won't be able to check up on an FAC, because those don't exist anymore, but if you want to look up a PAL applications progress you can go to this page and enter your pertinent information.

I wish. CFC received my renewal on January 13th. I just received my Licence on Friday,May 6th, 3 days before my birthday. I faxed my gun club membership 4 times in total & scanned and Emailed it once before it was accepted. They had no record of it for most of the times, and only once did they say they received it, but it was too dark (curses CDTSA for making the member card dark red). Where did the other faxes go, especially the ones that were addressed to the clerks that requested the fax?

Seems the CFO of Alberta is not releasing licences if you own handguns until they receive a copy of gun club membership. I suggested that be part of the renewal application process, so that I could have included it, not be held up because of the other CFC issues.

IME, don't wait to the last minute!

Yet more stupidity, that has no basis in law. Just another government employee, with too much authority.

Thanks to some helpful members on here I had heard of the membership proof "requirement" and included a copy of mine with the renewal application. Not to say it's within their rights at the CFC to do this, but a simple enough thing to include. I'd prefer to rock the boat on the issue, but only when there's reasonable time left on my license to do so.

Quite right, LOL, PAL - old thinking!...
I tried their internet system, no results... been about 3 weeks since submission - should I be concerned, or more patient?

Took them until March 24th (remember they had my application January 13th) for them to request the membership card. I was advised that I would likely receive the ATC before the licence. I still don't have my ATC, but thankfully, I have the licence.

Question: I applied to upgrade my non-restricted to restricted. My application was received on March 11, 2011. I checked my status on-line, this is what it says:

Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

I also have a membership at an approved pistol range. I looked for the Alberta CFO's office phone number, but all that is listed is a fax number. Should I fax them a copy of my membership card along with the application number?
