Default Ruger 10/22 trigger job

Can anyone recommend a gunsmith able to lighten Ruger 10/22 stock trigger? I would like to find someone in Alberta, preferably Edmonton if possible.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions

Do it yourself! Lots of info online and if thats too daunting a task there is multiple places who sell replacement triggers or trigger parts.

They sell ruger 10/22 triggers at cabelas that break lighter than the stock triggers for about $110. They're made by ruger so they just drop right in, no gunsmithing needed.

If you end up getting one let me know how you like it. Been considering it for mine.

Yes I think it's about $140 plus tax. Dlask out of bc reworks the original trigger set for $65 if I mail it in. Seems like the better deal but I thought I'd try to support a local business first.

IMO, A smith will work for $65-130+ an hour, if it takes him an hour to lighten your trigger you are close to the cost of a replacement. The replacements not only have more adjustability, but have also repaired the trigger creap and overtravel in addition to the lighter weight of pull.

Depending on when you bought the gun you might want to keep it original. I believe the replacement trigger assemblies have a plastic trigger guard as due the newer 10/22's. I have an older one that I bought in 1990 that's built with a metal trigger guard and would rather spend a little more at a gunsmith than replace parts with plastic.

Karl, at K&S in Edmonton used to do them. He did mine, and it is very nice, I've been told comparable to the VQ drop in. I also hear he is back in business, but haven't confirmed. He does excellent work!

pud at bashaw sports did my TNZ 10/22 some 20 years ago and never missed a beat after some 20,000 rounds. he also did the modification to be able to release the bolt with a single pull of the bolt instead of fumbling with the bolt holdopen device every time a fresh magazine is installed.
highly recommend it.
also throw a after market buffer in while its open

The BX trigger comes in at under 3lbs. Well worth the money, and the couple of minutes it takes to change out

everyone, thank you so much for all the advice! I have to follow-up on all these ideas. tikka250, thank you for the follow-up and information!

Really appreciate the community support on this. I have 2 10/22's that are new and I want to try a couple of different trigger options.

I bought one and it's a big improvement. This one breaks at about 2.5lbs consistently. My stock trigger was 6lbs.

I got mine done by Brimstone Gunsmithing out of Washington. There's multiple tiers, I got the Tier 2, which is around 2.5lbs. You can send your trigger group to them, or order one already done. Was very happy with it, had them do my Mini 30 trigger also!
